The lioness on the left is Sarafina, Nala's mother from the first Lion King movie. The lioness on the right is a member of Simba's pride from the second Lion King movie. She's the one that says "My, how you've grown!" to Kiara before her first hunt. I call her Safi.

I've been "informed" countless of times that the "My, how you've grown!" lioness is in fact Sarafina. The "My, how you've grown!" lioness is claimed to have the same voice actress as Sarafina. However, I couldn't find her name from the credits of SP. Sooo... where has this idea come from? I remember reading an unofficial SP script, long time ago, in which the "My, how you've grown lioness!" was claimed to be Sarafina. Hmm... But the script was unofficial.

Okay, maybe they just forgot to put the voice actress's name in the credits? I suppose it's possible... But even if the "My, how you've grown!" lioness did have Sarafina's voice, I don't think it necessarily means they're the same character. Zazu had a different voice actor in SP - does that mean he's not really Zazu?


I don't think Sarafina and "Safi" look similar at all. Pretty much the only thing they have in common appearance-wise is that they're both lionesses... But then again... we're talking about Simba's Pride. Simba and Nala didn't exactly look like themselves either. But in that sense any Pridelander lioness in SP could be Sarafina...

Of course it's fine if people want the "My, how you've grown!" lioness to be Sarafina in their stories. Maybe she... had a bad eye infection? It's possible. (Oh no, I'm almost starting to believe it myself...) But I hate it when people present rumors and theories as absolute facts.

Nala looked like a cheez-it in SP. Simba looked more like himself. Kiara looked like a female Simba...I was like, wtf guys?

My theory [not a fact] is that Sarafina died in scar's reign and Sarabi died of old age sometime before Kiara was born.
But this is really cool. I like how the lioness on the right has that, "How dare you copy my design?!" look on her face, and Sarafina's face is like, "I didn't copy anything from you. ;-;." Poor Saffy. X3
