I honestly don't understand why everyone is blaming D.W. for her behavior in this episode. They say
she's annoying. Honestly, I'm pretty much blaming Arthur for being annoying. I do like him, but this is one of those episodes that I don't like him in.
First of all, she's four years old. I'm pretty sure four year olds always want to know what's going around in their surroundings and try to do different things since they look up to older kids and adults. Okay, she notices Arthur and Buster watching a science show on TV for school. Why don't you act nice around her for once and allow her to explore the show with you guys? You can just say that she needs to be a little quite and just watch. You tell mom and dad that you want to go to the science museum with Alan and when D.W. wants to go as well, he just flat out tells her no and saying that she cannot go….Her dad even admits that she might be bored at the museum?….WHAT?! Oh, that's great parenting right there.
Okay. I've been to museums plenty of times. I've seen kids her age curious about science and love exploring the museum. What do you mean that she will be bored by a science museum? Plus, dad tells Arthur that he might have underestimated her for being interested in going to the museum and he just chuckles since he thinks its a joke for her to be intelligent.
She talks with Alan and he shows a bit of science to her while Arthur tries to finish his homework but ends up not being able to spend time with Alan since he had to go home. At dinner, Arthur tells his parents that she was bothering him and says that she only knew what H2O stood for just because "she heard him say it."
Okay. Why does Arthur always underestimate his sister? Why does he believe that she cannot be intelligent and always doubts her for everything? It's like he forces the mindset on D.W. into believing that the world would be better off without her curiosity and what she would offer would be useless…I just cannot stand you for that. You remind me of whenever I always got mad with my older brother at a younger age and got furious because he could not take my feelings seriously. Older brothers are like, "Oh. You're the little sister and I'm the big brother. What are you going to do about it?" You just put me into shame for that and I have feelings of anger just like every other human being despite of me being young. Just no. Arthur, don't doubt D.W. for being into science and could probably be interested in being a scientist when she's grown up. If I was her older sister and I knew about her curiosity, I'd be glad to let her experience science around her society. Let her determination expand.
