'Okay,' Rivera muttered, automatically pulling away from him and clutching her hands together tightly. She took a deep breath, her heart thundering in her chest. No one had seen this, except Lyrea, and she was practically her soul mate and joint in the head. No one had ever seen something so deeply locked away in Rivera's thoughts, soul- and here she was, about to show Zaq.
I will be here, Lyrea said in a low voice. I will not leave lest you should need help. Relieved slightly by her dragons proclamation, Rivera pushed back her hair and turned to face Zaq.
'Don't hate me.' She pleaded quietly, before opening up her darkest memory.

It was a warm say, the sun beating down on Nellas and I. We were at the small human village close to our previous elven home- they traded often with us, and allowed us to visit.
They had demanded we come that day. I didn't know why, but the two of us skipped along, Lyrea happy enough to settle in the forest nearby. She didn't stay for long- only a few minutes, until she found out that the reason we were called was for a lighthearted competition of sword fighting.
There were several boys our age- well, roughly. 13- 16, they were. I was never very good at judging ages, especially not humans. They were our competitors. We got along well enough, but there was one boy- Tylas- who was our closest friend. I think I was in love with him, but it was hard to tell. I was only, what, 13 or so? I'd imagine we'd have married if I-
Anyway, he wasn't there, so Nellas and I kept to ourselves, chatting aimlessly. It was only child's play, this contest, so it wasn't formal, but a large loaf of old Sel's- the baker of the town- best fruit cake, far better than I had tasted, was awaiting the winner. He often gave us little burnt bits, which still tasted fantastic.
So we were standing around, waiting for the 'umpire' to appear, whilst these boys- about seven or eight of them- where whispering and muttering, glancing at us. After I while, I got irritated, so marched up to them, Nellas in tow, to ask them if they had anything to say to us. To my surprise, they swung round and asked:
'Whats your problem?' I didn't know how to respond.
'Nothing!' I stuttered.
'No!' Another boy growled. 'We mean, your hybrid problem. Like, can you not have kids? We've all heard about your sisters, she's the worst spell caster there is, but what's yours?' I was annoyed, but I couldn't really answer, because at the time, I didn't know.
'Why?' I asked.
'Because the elves said they're chucking you out if you don't work it out soon. They think you're a "danger to their society"'.
'How do you know?' I asked.
'My father told me. They told him. They said they'll take away your little sibling if they don't work it out,' he replied. 'Far as I know, they want you dead.'
The boy meant no harm. He was being honest to me, but that word- in that context- just triggered SO am any things, my mothers death, my fathers leaving, everything else, being so alone, and that those elves wanted me DEAD, that something hidden inside me clicked.
As I looked back up at those boys, my compassion for the human race -ANY race- was gone. A pure hatred filled up inside me, not like when someone hurt Nellas, but worse. It boiled and writhed and after a few seconds, I couldn't hold it in.
Fire erupted everywhere. The screaming started. I threw more flames at every house of shop that wasn't burning. I must have knocked out Nellas in the process, because she was out cold behind me.
I stalked through the town, seeing every terrified face, relishing in my power, smiling and laughing, killing people wherever I saw them. Never had I felt so- fulfilled.
I realised then it was my glitch- and tried to fight against it, but it felt so good.
And then I saw him. The black haired, green eyed boy I loved, who was trying to get me to stop-
And I drew back my hand and killed him.

Rivera turned around straight away, slumping to sit on the floor.
'We left days after that. The elves wouldn't have me,' she chocked out, hugging herself.
