I mainly play the games TPAM . Hmmm......how best to describe it...erm....I guess this will have to do for now:

Theres many different forms of it you see. Not just one story but basically in the games the aim is to "Catch em All" inside Pokeballs, train them, battle trainers, raise them and fight your way through gyms and the league using your Pokemon. But each game has a different storyline and different pokemon. Some games its easier to Catch em All while others it is more challenging. Some Pokemon can evolve, that is, change into a different Pokemon and each pokemon has a set of four moves but depends on type (So like a Water Pokemon would had water type moves while Fire Fire moves etc). They are great games.

The Anime follows one boy on his journey through the Pokemon world. The newer eps are pants but the older ones are classics. The Manga is also the same but has different seasons so Pokemon Red follows a boy called Red while as Diamond and Pearl follows a different person in a different Pokemon world though that one has new Pokemon as well as Old.

All I can suggest is if you are interested, give it a go

I'm very familiar with Pokemon. I've watched the series and movies since I was little and I even played a couple of their games (I was able to evolve my Charmander into a Charmeleon two days ago ) I even had an Eevee and Venasaur action figure along with many others.
