awww~ My english is so bad, but I try to say something about autism that is facinating me!

There was a Guy that was an Autist and they took them over a big town whit a helicopter, after that they put him in a big room whit a realy big canvas.
It was so amazing... he could drew the whole town from out of his head!!! He could remember every importand building and so on...

I rad a article about, that autistic people have special skills in other ways as normal people have.

After I saw this guy I wished to be an autist, to be a better artist too! :goodnight:
Yeah there's some autistic people with amazing memory, I know someone who remembers every word from french lessons, he just doesn't know what some of them mean lol.

I'm not, but my cousin definitely is. He has Asperger's, and I really hate it for him sometimes. He gets along okay with it, though (really well, actually; he's gotten a lot better over the years), but he's still not good with jokes, LOL. I'm told that I don't have Asperger's enough to actually be diagnosed with it, but I no doubt do exhibit some tendencies. But I turned out alright in the end... I think. ;)

As has been mentioned by Simba, we believe my oldest younger brother has a very mild form of it; he's astoundingly adept in areas pertaining to mechanics, music, technology, etc., and whilst his social skills are a tad lacking, he's definitely been improving, slowly but surely. :)

I haven't been diagnosed yet. I have been thinking I have Aspergers for years now.
I saw two documentaries on Aspergers on tv and suddenly everything that happened to me in life (no social skills, no friends, extreme sensitivity to sound, dislike of crowds and noisy, excited people, an ability to hear or see something once and remember it and so on).
I then took several tests and scored consistently very high (the higher your score the more likely it is you have autism). But still according to the pschychiatrist I didn't have Aspergers or any autistic disorder... I have since heard from other people that the doctor that tested me, often isn't very thorough and misses diagnoses especially of the lesser known syndromes like Aspergers.
The testing process was extremely hard, it took several days and at the end of every day I was exhausted. So I'm not looking forward to getting a second opinion. But I'm thinking I'm going to have to do it soon.

I decided to bump this topic again.

I recently went to an Autism conference in LA and it was really informative. I especially loved the PEERS group, where teens and young adults on the more mild end of the spectrum could learn about making friends, the social cues, and all of that stuff. I would go there in a heartbeat, but it's sooooo far away from where I live. >_> And it's terrible that there is hardly anything for teens on the spectrum out there. It's usually just for the little kids. :P
