Nasty! I don't overly agree with traps but have you considered using humane ones?

We tried all the ones we could afford that wouldn't potentially hurt our dogs and cats. We tried glue traps, we tried the ones that snap, we tried a little packet thing that emitted a smell that was supposed to drive them off, we even tried soda traps that we made ourselves to cause them to die that way (we have been getting desperate for a while now), and we tried some other things I can't recall. We can't lay down any poison or anything like that cos it will affect our pets too, and we can't really afford to try anything else any more. =/

Our cats and dog are hunting them, but their success is minimal, unfortunately.

I would usually say that sounds like indigestion but it's been going on for a week so I'm definitely suggesting you go and see a doctor.
