Legal Voting Age

What do you think?

The age should be lowered to 16 for those who want to vote.

The funny thing is, in the US, universities were first founded in order to educate potential voters so they could make better decisions, and now, this country's voters are making very poor choices, especially the South, where my state has only 16% of the population going into college and only 20% of those 16% will graduate.

Honestly, I don't really care. I've never been interested in politics, and my "will" to vote would have been the same now (I'm 18), and two years ago. Honestly, I don't even think 18 year - olds are old enough for voting, so - I would increase.

But again, it's really not my domain.

Here is a very clear reason why I don't trust 16 year-olds to run a country. After all, look at what happens when they try to make a political statement:

In the 13 years since I left education I've learned more about the world then I ever did when I was there.

So we'll just have to disagree.

So would you allow yourself to vote 13 years ago? I don't think it's age that's the issue, but mostly sheer exposure to how the world works. And if you ask me, 16 year olds don't have enough exposure yet.

^ I was old enough to vote 13 years ago, so yes. Am I more informed now? Yes. Are there 16 year olds studying politics that are more knowledgeable than I was when I first voted? I'm pretty sure.

My take is that if you're old enough to serve your country. You are old enough to vote. So it should remain the same.

What? You having a go at me because I think everyone should have the right to vote regardless of education, beliefs and background? You are being rather harsh you know. I'd take it easy and stop having a go at people for what they think/believe. This is a discussion for people to express their thoughts and opinions and I get the impression you are just having a go at people who don't think along the same lines as you. Everyone has a right to their own thoughts and opinions without being insulted (You have insulted me by some of the things you have said and others). I'd give it a break now neh? :)
