Lion King III: Scars of the past

Postby Baya » January 3rd, 2010, 6:37 pm

Scar watched the sun rise over the now dark horizon as he awoke on the edge of pride rock. His emerald eyes gleamed deviously as he watched the light began to cast over all the creatures of the pride lands. Scar looked down below pride rock, and noticed that the lionesses were moping around again. He snorted and looked back up at his kingdom. Mufasa was dead and that annoying furball was gone, but these lionesses still mourned them after the time had passed? It made Scar's heart race in anger.

Scar's train of thought was interrupted by Shenzi, Bonzai and Ed fighting behind him. The tanned lion sighed as he turned his head to the three fools. "Would you three be quiet? It is too early in the morning for your oh so intelligent debates." Scar murmured. Shenzi, Bonzai and Ed quieted down and looked to Scar for a moment.

"I need you three to go scout the land a bit. I fear that some of our land has been deserted and need to know how much animals are still here. Go do a head count of the animal herds." Scar ordered. Ed cackled maniacally and Scar growled.

"I said head count, not eat. Understand?"
Scar growled grumpily.

"Sure boss! Can we have one small snack though? I mean counting is hard work! We'll build up an appetite!" Shenzi said with a nervous chuckle. Scar rolled his eyes.

"Very well."
Scar murmured and on that note the three hyenas scampered off to do their job.

Meanwhile Taka was below with the lionesses and frowning at all the glares he was recieving. He was careful of who he went near as many of them were angry and Scar, meaning they would also be hostile towards him. Taka's tanned fur is what made him look most like his father, next was his amber eyes that were shaped the same and finally the black tuft of mane that was growing on his head. Taka noticed that Nala was seperated from the lionesses, and was looking sadly over the horizon. Taka quickly made his way towards her, ignoring every other lioness he passed now.

Taka sat down next to where she was laying and looked over to her with a look of sympathy. Why was she so attached to Simba? What made her mourn him every morning like this? "You alright?" Taka finally managed to ask after a small amount of time had passed.

Danganya looked carefully how Taka talked to Nala.
He didn't want to make friends, but he was interested in other lion's lifes.
He thought that any chance should be taken to become the king.
Most of all, when he was talking about the king's son.

Nala had had a restless sleep. Every night was a sleepless one, ever since Simba and Mufasa died, no matter how much she snuggled up to her mother for comfort.
The pale, female cub had tears streaming down her cheeks when Taka approached, before asking how she was.
"No." She answered, struggling to stop her voice from breaking. The lump in her throat grew, hurting her, sending aches of emotion rippling through her body. "I don't think I'll ever be alright."
And with that, she broke into a fresh wave of sobs, her voice squeaking.

Taka looked to Nala in slight surprise, and raised an eyebrow. "Oh...I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry." Taka said as he scratched his head, not really knowing what to say to stop this. He was wondering if it was a mistake to bring it up when he already knew something was wrong. Taka really hated himself for feeling pity for Nala, after she had just abandoned him to play with Simba all the time, but he couldn't help it. It was not her fault entirely.

"Do you want to talk about it? Or go on a walk to calm you down?" Taka asked quietly, trying his best to sound soothing.

Simba.
She just couldn't stop thinking about Simba...
He'd been her very, very best friend, maybe even a little bit more than Taka was. They went everywhere together... they were even "betrothed", and even though that was a bit uncalled for, it was still a hard fact. She'd loved Simba like a brother.
And Mufasa. Mufasa had never failed in being perfectly lovely to her... he was the best King, in her eyes. The only King she'd known, but still the best. And now he was dead. They both were.
At Taka's suggestion, Nala tried to pull her face into a smile, but failed. Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Yes p-please. A -hic- walk would b-be nice. A-and... you d-didn't make me c-cry, I haven't stopped s-since they d-died..."
The lump wouldn't dissapear, no matter how hard she swallowed; it was annoying.

Taka waited for her to pull things together and get up. He began to walk with her very slowly, looking over to her every now and again. Taka broke the silence with a sigh and looked to the sky. Dark clouds were gathering, and the air smelled strange. It was probably going to rain very soon. Taka looked to Nala again, noticing that her crying had subsided just a bit but she was still sniffing and upset. "You shouldn't cry over something you can't change..." Taka said sympathetically.

Zira came into the cave to see her mate. "Hello honey.", Zira said as she went to sit next to him. "I know you don't like nuzzles but...", Zira said as she gave her mate a soothing nuzzle. "Honey I love you with all my heart, I'd do anything for you.", Zira said as she gave her mate a lick on the cheek. But you probably like licks., Zira thought as she laid down next to Scar.

Nala walked beside Taka, head hung, staring at the ground.
She really appreciated Taka's efforts to cheer her up, but it wasn't working. This was Simba they were talking about - not only the Prince and person Nala was betrothed to, but also her best friend, and probably one of the most important people in her life, along with her mother. Despite their short lives, her memory was packed with so many amazing moments with Simba.
But she couldn't express this with words - especially not to Taka, or he'd feel like a third wheel in a nonexistent trio.
"I know, Taka... I know." She said solemnly.

Taka laughed quietly to himself, shaking his head as they approached the grass lands. "You know, and yet you continue to cry? Doesn't sound right to me. I think all you need is to have some fun to get your mind over this. Come with me." Taka offered as he continued to walk.

The duo walked for quite some time until they got to a clearing with many birds in it. "Now you can just chase away your problems. Roar, pounce, run, do what ever you want really and these birds will fly off. " Taka said with a grin.

"How can I chase these birds?" Nala's sadness, for some strange reason, twisted into anger. "How, Taka, can you expect me to just... chase these birds to solve all my problems? I don't think you're grasping the situation very well - Simba and Mufasa are dead. And it wasn't even natural, it was by a wildebeest stampede! Don't you feel any sadness at all, for them? Don't you feel the same gaping hole in your heart, like I do? Don't you feel like you've lost a brother and a father?"

Nala hadn't meant to turn on Taka - he was only trying to help. And he was her second-best-friend... and always would be. Simba would never move from the top spot, no matter how dead he was.

Nala's thoughts were wheeling around in her head. Seriously, how could Taka not have a single tear in his eye? The death of two prominent and loved members of the pride surely would tug at his heartstrings? Taka had been part of their trio, Taka had felt the same love for Simba; maybe not as much as Nala, but they were still considered best friends. And Mufasa - he had been such a loved, respected lion. He'd never failed to work his kingdom well.

And here Nala was, crying her eyes out, and Taka was telling her to chase birds. The pale cub shook her head in disbelief.

"I can't believe you." She whispered. "This is unbelievable..."
