Im loving all the positive you guys are putting into it

Now lets look at some of these kid shows and look at there age groups, cause I tried to look them up but struggled and don't know how accurate they really are, and I do watch some of these too. so im gonna start by guess the age groups

Starting with...

Jake ad the Neverland Pirate-I want to say 2-4

Sofia the First-im guessing 2-7 (i do watch sofia the first)

now if some of you may or may not have heard of this show but its on PBS and I really love it
Wild Kratts Im gonnna say 2-7

My little Pony 2-up because of how popular it got (I watch this one as well)

my hope is TLG become a big success as MLP

Ditto. I was very skeptical of MLP until I actually watched it with an open mind. If TLG is as good (in theory it will be at least somewhat good if it is that popular) as MLP, I'll probably like it and be happy with it for what it is.

I think some of us have any right to be ''negative'' about an upcomming tv series that acts as a sequel to a succesful movie franchise targeted towards all ages, and that is going to be aimed mainly at YOUNG CHILDREN. Some people might want to be careful not becomming overly optimistic hence they want to become severly disappointed when something not fulfills their expectations.

I am not overly optimistic, i am cautiously optimistic.

Hoping for the best prepared for the worst. Have had this stance since it was announced 9 months ago.

I'm hoping for the same. I know a lot of adults who love Sofia the First as well, so with any luck, let's hope that TLG can pull off that stunt too.

Yeah, sofia the first is surprisingly halfway decent. I have also seen a few episodes of mlp fim and.... I kind of enjoyed it.

By everything that is good, I hope TLG won't be anything like MLP.

I think That people that are saying that they want The Lion Guard to be like My Little Pony are hoping that The Lion Guard will match My Little Pony's popularity and ability to attract as well keep an audience that exceeds it's target demographic.

Speaking as an adult that loves The Lion King, I am also cautiously optimistic about The Lion Guard, I was thrilled to hear that there was going to be another follow up to The Lion King. My heart sank when I heard it was to be a preschool show. The realization I reached was this. The Lion Guard will not have the epic majesty of The Lion King, The lessons the show imparts my be somewhat in your face in order to make sure that target audience gets it. However if the show is good there is still great potential that I could enjoy it.

What little animation we have seen has me impressed and if Disney is making such an effort to make the show look good I can't see them phoning it in in terms of writing and story content. An educational show does not have to sacrifice entertainment value to teach something.

I have (admittedly far reaching) hopes that if The Lion Guard is popular enough that it will inspire Disney to do a Theatrical Lion King sequel( Frozen is getting one Lion King should too :P ). In which Kion's character could be given more depth and we would get to see him and a teen or young adult. Of course they would need to be much more of a plot than that. There is also the possibility that if Lion Guard is a huge success Disney may time freeze Kion and keep him a young cub forever. Never doing anything to advance his character. Both possibilities are a stretch at best. Although as long as there is something new for the world of The Lion King, hoping for even more is at least semi-realistic.

I dont even think MLP is that popular. True, this forum seems to nearly explode of bronies, but I haven't actually ever encountered someone in real life who is into that pony stuff. I think its really more of a trend in the U.K. I'd rather hope it will match the TLK's franchise popularity, but I guess I'm seeing ghosts at this part.

I`m very excited about it and will definitly watch it (if I get the chance - I`ll need to watch it online somehow).

I`m just happy Disney is breathing life into the TLK fandom again and this time it`s not about Timon and Pumbaa! Of course I would have loved to see a prequel of some sort, or even cubs of Kiara and Kovu, but this looks fun too! I`ve read that Kiara will be making appearences, and that makes me very, very happy. Hopefully we`ll get to see Kovu as well.

I just hope they`ll respect the original film and stay true to the original characters... I`m just wondering how much Simba and Nala are going to be in this.. Will it mostly focus on Kion and (his various animal) friends or does his family play essential parts?
Also curious about the voice actors... I doubt any of the original actors will come back to reprise their roles for a television series.

Anyway, I`m very happy that Disney is doing this, and I look forward to watching it. As I understand, it`s going to be aimed at young children, but hopefully it`ll still be enjoyable for an older audience... And if they produce merchandise to go with this, I`d seriously be in heaven. (Maybe at long last we`ll get something featuring an adult Kiara??!! I can dream, right?)
