Paintings & Predictions episode

Paintings & Predictions episode

Postby gothprincesskiara » March 25th, 2016, 6:16 pm

:peeky: Ok I wanted to start this one early because, this is not a good idea for Rafiki or the TLK world, Rafiki NEVER has predicted the future, what the heck are they thinking? Who thought of this? whats the reason for it? and why? Rafiki is a wise old baboon who has a martial arts skill :kungfu2: , and who is also a shaman :hmm: and a good painter... with some magic,! and a royal presenter of the birth of royal lion cubs, nothing else!....but to predict the future?....what the heck!?!...we so need to talk about this a prepare ourselves for this, because this might just will ruin Rafikis reputation for who he is :sad2: ....where do we start? this is going to far for Rafiki for our beloved baboon shaman.

I don't know if this is all that bad. I agree it's slightly out of character for Rafiki, but not hugely. Maybe he's just experimenting with his 'magic'. He can already communicate with the spirits if SP's canon is to be believed. I'd say that predicting the future is a lot less harder to accept than that, although, considering that TLK already has an existing spiritual element, it is a little bit weirder. But I'm hoping it's just experimentation.

Maybe it'll end up that he doesn't predict it correctly and accidentally causes trouble for the Guard. Someone actually suggested that the prediction could possibly have something to do with the Outlander cubs.

he knows medicine, kung fu, can talk to the dead etc who is to say we know everything about him? We don't know much about his past, maybe he was a fortune teller who trained under dr house md and bruce lee?
Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up again.

Can we keep it within TLK world lore and history? Rafiki didn't show any sign of this in either TLK movies I feel as though Rafiki just randomly starts gaining psychic powers or something and he is now just learning to use these powers, for me its just how much more magical will the TLK world get?, first I didn't like the roar and then I was bothered by the fact that the painting of the guard is a magical animation on the rock was now from eye of the beholder, but got over it and now there is more then just his moving rock painting?, I really miss how things used to be, just raw nature, no magic except the appearance of Mufasa, what happened to those raw old days. is this just a sudden knew change that now more magic is added to the TLK world and Rafiki is now responsible with powers like Kion? Sorry if I sound like im selfishly complaining, but we arnt used to this, but I know what ur gonna say we weren't used to the Lion guard ways either at first. Its just hard to imagine him being psychic.

I don't think you're selfishly complaining and I totally agree with you - I also miss those 'raw old days'. I think it's just a matter of realising that this is a show aimed at very young kids, and perhaps the rawness of the original universe isn't enough to satisfy them. It's hard to get your head around but you don't have to accept it as canon if you don't want to. You just have to put up with it, and acknowledge that this is the new direction that TLK is moving in. Doesn't mean it's any better than the old direction. :)

Not to mention, it'd be downright impossible to make a TV series out of just the material provided in the movie. It'd grow stale fast if they limited themselves to it. Let's see the episode first and then possibly worry. I think the worrying part is unnecessary though. Most likely if he does indeed predict the future correctly, it's just a one-episode deal that you can easily forget if you want to. Besides, I think learning to separate this series from the movies (and the movies from each other as well) is important. Not the biggest fan of turning the Circle of Life into total magic myself, but it nohow ruins the movies. This series is its own thing and you can separate the canons if you feel like doing that. Just like Lelizwe said, nothing is set in stone as this "one, big Lion King universe" unless you want it to be. :)

Besides, I don't think predicting the future is even that far-fetched with Rafiki's character. Could be far worse. They could've made him shoot magic spells or something lol

I dunno, attempting to predict the future sounds like a pretty normal cliche 'shaman' type activity to me...

I agree with this, however we do not yet know what causes Rafiki's painting to start predicting the future. It may not be Rafiki gaining a new power, but it could be a case of Rafiki mixing something different into his paints. I doubt this will be a permanent ability that Rafiki will retain.
