SP was not entirely animated in Australia. Some animators were in Australia but others were not. For exemple, with Beauty and the Beast. If you notice, Belle looks a bit inconsistent. (http://images2.fanpop.com/image/user_images/1162000/dweeb-1162591_2128_2496.jpg) That happened mostly because James Baxter's (Belle's main animator) team was working in two different places, due to the lack of time (Beauty and the Beast was completed in only two years).
I don't know much about SP's production, but since the movie was animated in two different countries (EUA and Australia), it can be a valid point when talking about the animation quality. But yeah, I'm not sure about that...
Either way, the animation in most of the sequels is very poor.
