Woeler, I mean no disrespect, but all religions are silly in their nature, not just Islam. Islam is violent, but so is Judaism and Christianity. If you say Santa doesn't exist, but then assert that a Christian, Muslim or Judaic God does, then you are defeating your own reasoning.
Fair enough if you think Christianity is just as ''silly'' as islam when it comes to believing in an almighty being, but please at least acknowledge the fact that we (true) christians aren't terrorists, don't threaten cartoonists with death, and don't beat up or kill non religious people, and the list goes on...

I don't think true muslims do that either. Truly religious people are truly peaceful people.

Actually, it's the other way arround... It are the TRUE muslims who follow their scripture to kill and persecute non-muslims. The good muslims are usually the ones who are more backslidden from their faith, combined with being raised with some degree of civilised manners (unlike many others of them).

Two things:

1) Every religion has extremism

1. An extremist Christian would be the most gentle person you'd ever know.

2. You should look up and ask yourself wether those people were really christians or not. Do you know the meaning of the term ''Christian''? It means being Christ-like in personality, and Christ (according to the bible) was a good man who never killed anyone. So true Christianity has spilled no blood at all.

Ok, Nicholas...if by extremist Christians you mean people who read the bible literally, you will find that Christianity is just as violent and ruthless as Islam. There is punishments by stoning, a huge lack of respect for women and hatred for select groups of people. The Bible also condones enslaving your fellow man and killing any one in the name of God.

And last I checked, the Bible is what determined whether you were a Christian or not. You cannot simply discard anyone who follows the entire bible literally as non-Christians and then call yourself a "true" Christian because you read only the good parts. Islam was inspired by Christianity and Judaism if you didn't know .

^ sadly, this is 100% true. Much of Christianity is contradictory in that respect.

You are talking about the old testament where christianity plays no role. Only the new testament applies to Christianity... Jesus, who in the new testament is the founder of christianity, taught his followers (and future followers) not to kill but to forgive your enemies, love your neighbor as yourself, and treat other people how you wish to be treated. The laws of stoning sinners were no longer valid when Jesus payed the price for our sins by giving his own life on the cross. He in fact even stopped a women guilty of adultery from being stoned for her sins... Jesus never did a bad thing or got anyone killed, and Christians are to follow HIS example and not the old testament.

The bible determines who is a real christian and who isn't. And clearly so-called Christians who kill other people are not Christians because they don't obey the teaching of their own scripture. It's as simple as that. Christianity itself doesn't have to suffer a bad reputation thanks to a bunch of wolves in sheep's clothing in the past who pretended to be christians while they were serving their own greed.

The New Testament is part of the Bible and so is the old testament. Jesus ADDED onto it, not totally reworked. If what you were saying was true, there would be no need for the old testament. And does that mean you don't read Genesis? Does that mean you accept evolution? Does that mean you deny the ten commandments (Which are part of the old testamant?)

I'm sorry to poke at you here, but I'm just confused where you can say true Christians only follow the new testament...

Maybe you do not know yet that the new testament is the new covenant. The old testament was before the comming of the messiah (Jesus) When there still was the old covenant, which passed away. It is true that we still have to follow the 10 commandments because God's law doesn't change, but the penalty for violating the 10 commandments or any other law in the old testament (witchcraft, necromancy, etc) is no longer death because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

Like I said, the old testament was merely a thing in the past where we learn what happend (like the creation of earth) while the new testament is where we are taught how to live.
