Hello, I just noticed a problem with the name change script for the FAA. The problem with the script has been fixed, but it may have caused some people's art to be temporarily broken (broken links and broken images). Hello everyone! I have just finished a new feature. Anyone is now able to "flag" an artwork as inappropriate (as in...not following the uploading rules). This feature now allows the reporter to specify a reason while reporting. If you see artwork that is inappropriate, please flag it and the mod team will team with it as soon as possible! Thanks!

Hello Artists of MLKFAA! The voting is open for the 25th contest, but that's only half the reason for posting this. I'd really like to ask each and every one of you to take advantage of this contest by submitting anything you draw next week. There's a need for more artists and more submissions these days. Remember, the winner gets a beautiful userbar made by Simba, and their art is recorded in the hall of fame at the beginning of each submissions thread. All you have to do is draw something and post it in the submissions thread once voting closes. It's an easy way to get your art out there and appreciated by the forum. I hope some of you take me up on this invitation ^.^

Just a reminder to everyone that coloring another artist's line-art and uploading it to the FAA is against the Uploading Rules. While it is good for practice, it should only be for practice, and not for displaying publicly. Even if the artist allows coloring of their art, the FAA won't accept it because the submission is not entirely your own. Thanks!

Notifications! (Notice the changes to the top bar). There are currently two types: New private message notification and new comment notification. This was a desperately needed feature, sorry for the late release on this one. Click on the icons to read your notifications, and hopefully everyone can figure it out from there :) Right now I only have 2 types of notifications: new messages and new comments. In the future I will add notifications for favorites, watches, etc. If anyone has any trouble with this, feel free to contact me.

Artists may have noticed that their Gallery page has changed a little. I am currently working on a new feature that has to do with folders and organizing/categorizing artwork (thanks to a suggestion by RikoDuroska!) Eventually, the folders that you make will be listed on the left hand side of your gallery whereas the artwork in that folder is on the right side. I should be done with this new feature by the end of the next weekend.

Everyone now has the option to search artists, artwork and characters by using the new searchbox in the upper right. It has a nifty auto-complete feature that makes it easy to choose one of the choices. If a search query matches an artist, artwork or character exactly it will automatically redirect you to that certain page. If there are multiple matches, it will show a list of relevant artists, artwork, and characters. I know this feature has been missing for a while and I'm sorry! Enjoy!

A few updates have been made on artwork pages. The pages have been stylized more, but that's about it. There are no new features. I am looking into displaying "share" buttons that make it easy to share artwork to social websites like Facebook, LiveJournal or Twitter. Artists will have the ability to disable the share buttons. One of the coolest changes is a new way of displaying the artwork fullsize. Just click on the artwork to view the new feature.

If you've been having troubles uploading character portraits, try uploading them now! A small error was found when Dolphinsea reported that PNG images were not uploading. I have fixed that problem, but if anyone is still having troubles uploading a portrait for their character, please PM me.

I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time. With the new 5 star rating system, it was finally possible. At the home page of the FAA, you will notice several changes. The most obvious being: it shows the most popular pictures as default. It computes which pictures are most popular by the average star rating (soon will be taking faves, number of hits, and number of comments into consideration for more accurate popularity). You can also set time periods to choose from: Today, This week, month, year and all time. I will say again, I would highly encourage everyone to search deep in their favorite artists' albums and rate their artwork so the oldies can be rated fairly with the new art. Without everyone's help with rating, the most popular pictures are hard to discover!

I have incorporated a new rating system into the FAA. It seems to work pretty good, but if anyone is having issues please tell me ASAP. As with all new features, it still needs lots of work - but, I encourage everyone to start rating artwork. I also encourage people to go back into older artworks and rate those as well. Future features might include: changing the artwork shown in the FAA index to "newest and most popular", artists can disable ratings if they want, combining the two 5 star blocks as one (hopefully), etc.

A few of you were having troubles with your character thumbnails (but no one told me). That error has been fixed. Notify me if there are any problems with the FAA, because as I've said before, the entire FAA is still in beta phase and some things aren't done and some things simply don't work.

It was very difficult, but I was able to add a new feature! When uploading a new artwork, MLKFAA will search your artwork title and description for character names (your characters and canon characters). If it finds a match or several matches, it will suggest that you tag them in your new artwork. You select which ones are actually IN your art, and then you click submit and it automatically tags them for you. Of course, you can always manually tag them one by one later (and remove tags). Since this feature is very new, there may be some issues with it that I need to fix over the next few days. Please PM me if something doesn't seem right. Enjoy!

Moka's kindly given me access to the updates so I can involve more of you great artists in a little forum competition that I've got set up. For the last four weeks I've been gathering submissions from artists, and letting all members of MLK vote on their favorites. The winner gets a victory userbar, and it's been a great success so far with about 7-15 entries per week. Artists can now choose what content they want to show or not show in their albums. There are currently 7 "modules" you can turn on or off. Of course, many artists probably won't remove modules yet because they are general modules, but, when I continue working on new features, there may be some modules that artists may wish to show or...not show. Anyway hope that was confusing enough. You can play with the new feature by going to "Edit Account" and...well you'll see it. I'm planning to add more options to these modules. As for "Artwork Thumbnails", I plan on choosing which thumbnails to show (newest, popular-est, or choose your own..?) and whether or not the artist wants to show a bigger thumbnail of their most popular one. or most recent one. Anyway, I'm gonna be working on album features so people can customize their albums hopefully just as much as they could on deviantArt! I'm not trying to compete with the biggest art community ever...just stealing ideas from it :)

Hello everyone! Just to let you all know - I should be back TONIGHT at MLK. I had some internet problems and couldn't get online. Through the various computers I've used to see what's going on at MLK, I have noticed that MLKFAA is very disfigured when viewed in Internet Explorer. I'm pretty sure the functionality works fine, but the layout is all messed up. I will work on fixing this within the next month. It's difficult for me because I don't have Internet Explorer 6 on my computer. If you have Internet Explorer 6 or 7, you should upgrade to the new version: IE 8. I believe Microsoft finally fixed Internet Explorer when they updated it this time. Thanks, and sorry!

There is a new option you can do with artwork: Tagging characters! You can now match (or "Tag") a character with your artwork. Tagging characters is simple! To learn how, read this document. Some of you may notice that some characters have been tagged in your artwork already. That was just me playing around with it :] Enjoy! Please report any bugs you find.

Hi! Sorry I've been gone a few days xD I've been busy. I managed to put in a new color picker (yes, yet another one). This one is actually a good one and it's really easy to use. It's just like the one in Photoshop and it works great. I fixed a problem with the edit artwork table thing in your "edit my account" page. Thanks to Zeke for noticing this. I made it so you can type in your species when you make a new character (which allows for all characters). You don't need scientific names. Names like "Lion" or "Meerkat" will suffice. Thanks to Majordomo for suggesting this. I also fixed some problems with character portraits. If an artist has submitted characters, their characters will appear on their album page as tiny thumbnails :] More updates with characters coming soon!

Alright, for the most part, characters are ready to be used. You can start by making your very first character by clicking here. Once your character is submitted, it will appear in the Character tab of your album. When viewing your character, you will see the information you have sent as well as a section titled "Featured In...". This is where you can link art and characters together, by "tagging" artwork with your character in them. This particular section is not quite ready yet, so for now please ignore the "Featured In..." section. For an example of what tagging is, visit Simba's Character Profile, where I have "tagged" Simba in some of your art. I plan on adding a "Favorite this Character" option as well as a "Delete this Character". Characters are in their very beginning stages, so obviously some features won't be available. Please be patient! I'm done with them for tonight =P

Everyone now has the option to reply to comments made anywhere in MLKFAA. You'll see a "Reply" option at the lower right hand corner of comments within MLKFAA. Completing this was the most difficult thing I've had to do yet, so it might have some errors that I haven't noticed yet. If something looks wrong, please tell me so on my journal post. Thanks to RikoDuroska for the idea!

People can now comment on journal entries. If there are any bugs, please tell me because I haven't tested it out fully.
Also, I changed up the look of the front page. There are now 2 scroll boxes that have these announcements and the most recent journal entries. I may change it up again later, but for now enjoy the journals!

Hey guys! I'm sure you'll all be glad to know that the journals are working now. The only thing I have left to do is comments. It will just take me a few seconds tomorrow and then people will be able to post comments on your journal entries. Sorry I couldn't finish it tonight, I'm sooo tired...

I just realized how dumb it was to have journal entries without the ability for people to comment on them. I'm gonna work on getting these to work. For now, journals are disabled. I will have everything back to the way it was (except people will be able to comment!) Sorry for this delay...again. I'm really busy too. XD

You can now edit the comments you make for artwork. Just look for the "edit" button at the top right of each comment!

Hi everyone, I have completed the Journals. You can now use them and manage them within the FAA. Just go to Edit Account -> Journal to get started.

1. Journals - allow artists to post journal posts and display these posts in their album.
2. Characters - allow artists to make their own characters and fill out information about their characters and make a new tab everywhere in the FAA for characters (like newest characters, most used characters, etc). Artwork will soon have a new feature that you can use. You will be able to tag characters in your artwork such as Simba and Nala or your characters or even someone else's if they allow you too. Then, on the artwork's display page, thumbnails of each character tagged will link to that character's display page. Like I said a long time ago, Characters will take me a long time to finish (lol). But I WILL finish them. I've added canon characters into the database. I have to add characters like Kopa, Chumvi etc too.
3. Post a summary of the newest journal posts on the index page. (In that "Something Else" box).
4. Notify the artist of new comments made in their album. This notification will probably up on the very top bar. Like, "Hello, Artist. You have 4 New Comments in your album." Hopefully in the future I will be able to link right to the new comments. This might be tough, I have to figure out how to do this before attempting anything.

I've added some nifty Previous and Next buttons on the page when it displays a single artwork. This lets you browse through someone's gallery without having to click back and find the next thumbnail =)

Everyone's descriptions of their artworks should be fixed now. I have fixed every single one. If someone finds an error, or still has a blank description in one of their artworks, please PM me immediately!

The "Artist Comments" portion of your album will work now if you edit it. I don't know why, but smilies don't work. I might leave it like this, though. If anyone's artist comments are not appearing, please PM me right away. Your comments were not lost, I will get them back for you.

A message to all artists: Some of your artwork may or may not display the artwork description that you have written. Nothing was lost I just changed the way of displaying the description. I will fix the problem tonight so don't panic if you see a blank description.

I have added an application that automatically creates thumbnails. This application causes a slight delay the first time a thumbnail is accessed because it has to create the thumbnail. Other than that, it should make MLKFAA faster and better. Because of the new application, I can now allow GIFs and animated GIFs to the Albums. I have also raised the max file size to 4 megabytes by request from a few artists.

Many of you have noticed a "Journal" section in your album. For the timebeing please ignore this. I am still working on getting these to work. In the future, I hope to have these "Artist Journals" be a place for artists to post announcements and whatever they want to post. I could be a blog or just an update log for them - its totally up to them. So please stand by while I work on these.
