Vingi POV ######################################################## "Truth or dare?" Layla asked. "Dare." I said "Make it quick, though. It's almost night, and it looks like it might rain soon" Don't worry, Vingi!" Layla assured me. "You just have to, oh, I don't know, walk across the Elephant Graveyard and back." She said with a smirk. "What?!That's not quick!" I said, shocked. "How about we all do it. I mean, it's the last dare we'll do to day, so we should all be counted in, right? Besides, Mom would much have us all home late, because she likes o know we've got eachother's backs." "Oh, fine!" Athena rolled her eyes. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Aibu asked smugly. He hadn't been playing, so he felt this was of no concern to him. "You? We all have to do it, bird brain!" Aibu shot her a threatening look as he growled, "Fine." And we were off. By the time we were almost to the far edge of the graveyard, a group of hyenas seemingly came out of nowhere and said, " Why, who are you little cubs? Hey, we got some fresh meat!" The head hyena called to the others. As soon as she had called to them, more hyenas leaped to her side, with the same menacing look their leader had. We all huddled together as the hyenas circled around us, like vultures. "What is it, little cubs, are you scared?" The leader hyena taunted. A beat after that, they lunged at us. I managed to get out quickly, with only fear as a wound. As soon as I could, I hid myself behind an elephant skeleton, which seemed more as a friend, and much less scary than it had been when I first saw the eerie skeleton. I looked over to see Layla running as fast as she could back home, but I had to stay and protect my family. Aibu was being his usual self. He had a kindness in him, and that was something we all knew no one but he had. Aibu would take a smack in the leg for anyone, and that was exactly what he was doing now, as he was protecting Athena. "Aibu, don't!" I heard Athena call to him. He didn't care. "Hey! Why would you eat her when I'm here? I'm much bigger than she is, so why do you pick on her?" "Over here!" I called as loudly as I dare. Athena began to slink over to me, but the hyenas were so focused on Aibu, they didn't notice. "Are you telling us to pick on someone our own size?" The leading hyena smirked. Aibu nodded, as he put on a brave face."I've heard that before," the hyena chuckled, and out of no where, they pounced. I heard Aibu scream, as Athena and I ran away. "Aibu!" I heard Athena call, "Over here!" "Athena!" I called, "We've got to go!" Even though I couldn't see Athena through the thick fog, I knew she could here me. I waited. More screams came. I began to sweat with fear, and I wanted to go help them, but I was frozen. After only a minute, but what seemed like an hour, The pair came out of the fog, and we headed out, as Athena and I helped Aibu walk. We didn't recognize this place. Where were we? Aibu lay down, he barely had the strength to keep his eyes open. I had mad it out unharmed, sure, but what about Aibu? Let alone poor Layla, who was out on her own. Our pelts were all drenched by the freezing, unforgiving rain. I looked over to see Athena, her paws smothered with mud and the scratch on her nose from the hyenas. I also saw Aibu's bloody wound. I felt horrible, just standing there while my brother was being shredded by a few dogs. "How'd you make it out of there?" I asked, breaking the silence. "They must have lost us in the fog." "We need to find someone. Anyone." I said, changing the subject, as Aibu moaned, as blood poured out from his leg. Athena began to cry for him. We needed help, anyone, anything.
