I'm not sure how many people have read the Ratha series by Clare Bell since the books have been out for awhile, but I love the series to death. <33 Truthfully, the stories of Ratha and her clan (not TLK c:) were what started me drawing felines in the first place. I have tons of old Ratha fanart I drew waaaay before I joined any online art site.

Anyway! This was done for an art contest being held by Clare Bell herself! The grand prize is autographed copies of all 5 books in the series plus a Ratha t-shirt! It's not much, but I'm excited. I'll be sure to post a link here for my entry when voting time comes so you guys can help be out by voting.

About the picture itself:

Bravely holding her "creature" tight in her jaws, Ratha's ready to fight off any Un-named raider that dares approach her or her Clan mates. >3

I went for a more painterly / semi-realistic look since I wanted to show off Ratha's fierceness and determined spirit, plus I've wanted to try this style out a bit more. I've never drawn fire before as a main subject so you'll have to excuse the cheesy looking flame! xD

OMG EPIC PICTURE!!! I've never heard of that book series but it sounds very interesting ^^ I wish you the best of luck =D Erin Hunter should do a contest like that for Warriors!
