"Hah, you just watch!" he snorted in reply, planting his paws firmly against the ground and tensing his muscles, prepared to show off. For a moment, he adjusted his position ever so slightly, until finally, he sprang forth in clumsy manner, loping towards the doggie door at a sprint. He felt as though he were moving too slowly, and, suspecting it was due to his tiredness, shook his head, causing his tongue to loll out of his mouth as he neared the door. Thenㅡwith much gustoㅡhe launched himself at the doggie door, his head meeting the flap and pushing it aside as he sailed through it and onto the porch on the other side, where he lost his footing and found himself face to hard wood once again. Nonetheless, he whooped in victory, bouncing back up to all fours and prancing about for a moment.
"I told you, I got this!" he bragged, feeling the sun warming his fur and through the layer of fog that had descended over the area. It was little chilly out here, if he was frank, but the sounds of insects and birds chirping in the grass and trees, the lively outdoor sounds of humans in their vehicles, cats and squirrels, other dogs in the distance; all of it was enough to help him become a bit more wakeful, and as such, a bit more solemn. They were going to look for a new home, and the gravity of that statement was only just now fully hitting him.
