Beshte is a hippopotamus who is the son of Basi, the strongest member of The Lion Guard and one of the main characters of the television film The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar and it's follow-up series The Lion Guard.

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar

Beshte is first seen near the start of the film as Kion and Bunga hop across him and his family as they play Baobab Ball. He along with Fuli and Ono are chosen by Kion to join him and Bunga to join the Lion Guard (a team who protect the Pride Lands and defend the Circle of Life).

Soon after, Kion's father King Simba arrives and sees whom Kion has chosen to join the Lion Guard and isn't pleased as unlike the previous Lion Guards, they are not all lions and accuses Kion of not taking his new role seriously. After Simba leaves, Kion goes to have alone time. Bunga calls after Kion, but Beshte tells him that Kion needs time alone.

Shortly after, Janja and his hyena clan attack a gazelle herd, causing a stampede and trapping Kion's older sister Kiara. After Kion returns, Beshte joins him in fighting the hyenas, before Bunga and Fuli save Kiara and get her safely to Simba and Nala. Beshte then watches Kion use the Roar of the Elders to blast Janja and his clan back to the Outlands.
