Canon - not to be confused with canonical or official - refers to the legitimacy of something from The Lion King fandom. In the context of The Lion King fandom, if something is Canon, then it is from the most official source in the fandom (the movies - starting with The Lion King, then The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and finally The Lion King 1½). The term Canon refers to the Disney Canon, or list of feature length theatrical animated films - of which The Lion King is a part of but the sequel and prequel/midquel are not.
