I think for a relationship to go anywhere, you have to spend regular time together in person. A purely internet romance can be nice, especially if the people are shy, but they rarely last.

That depends on how serious I take those people.
So something that is a fact can be dispelled if you do not take it seriously? That's pretty rich coming from yourself.
For months while my girlfriend was in uni, the only way I could contact her without racking up huge phone bills was through the internet, so you will excuse me if I disagree with your statement but I happen to know for a fact its wrong.

I can see why people might think "NOOOO IT'LL FAIL" when it comes to online relationships, and I thought that when I first joined "the internet"- but now I've been in a relationship with someone who lives about 200 miles from me, and we've been together for two yeeears (and nearly 2 months yay) x3 we meet up every other month though, so its quite different from, say... somebody in Australia and somebody in the USA
BUUUT I know a couple from MLK (not naming names =P)- boyfriend in Oz and girlfriend in the USA- they've been together for abooout, 24 months now? Just thought I'd bring that up plus I don't think they have met yet
