"You will never be Mufasa!"

"You will never be Mufasa!"

Postby TheLionPrince » March 1st, 2012, 9:37 pm

We fans all know the scene in which Simba and Kiara engage in an argument after Kovu's banishment by Simba. Simba justifies his action that he is following in Mufasa's pawprints just as Kovu is supposedly doing in Scar's. Then, straight out of the blue, Kiara shouts "YOU WILL NEVER BE MUFASA!"

Just wondering, is Kiara justified in making such as a comparison? I mean, Kiara lived not one day under her grandfather's reign, and Mufasa even died YEARS even before she conceived. To me, Kiara doesn't seem justified enough in stating Simba is trying to be like him...even though he obviously is given his reaction to Kiara's statement.

But still, the only thing Kiara could know about Mufasa is just the stories she heard about him. In my opinion, this is not enough evidence to make an outright statement like that when she never knew Mufasa that well to begin with. So, do you feel Kiara is justified or not for that statement?

No, to my mind she just says it in a brat fit because she knows it would hurt Simba and she's mad.

I think she just said it because she was angry and upset, you know the way teens get when they are upset. They say things without thinking it through. And like cleargreenwater said, she knew it would hurt him.

For Kiara, Mufasa is the ideal parent. The only thing she knows about him is through stories she is told by others, and many of those will come from Simba himself. And I doubt that Simba would have shared many bad stories to Kiara, so really, the only things she would know about Mufasa is how great he was.

And in her opinion, Simba is not the ideal parent, and yet is one who keeps trying to strive to be Mufasa. So Simba is far from perfect, while all Kiara knows is how perfect Mufasa was.

So is she justified in comparing Simba to Mufasa? Not really. She simply doesn't know enough about Mufasa to make a real comparison. She can make a comparison between Simba and the idealized Mufasa she is told about, but that is hardly much of a comparison.

But at the same time, Simba is trying to be like Mufasa. So maybe saying that he isn't Mufasa is justifiable in that it will get him to think again about his decision.

I hated that she said that, how cruel. No, she obviously wasn't justified to make such a comparison. She obviously knew how much Simba loved Mufasa, it was terrible that she could be so horribe.

Especially considering everything suggested Kovu had been part of the ambush from Simba's point of view, and Kiara didn't even ask him what had actually happened.

I agree with you, I hated when she said that. :x
And I don't think she is justified for that statement. She didn't know
Musafa and even with the stories she heard about him, she couldn't say that to Simba.

When she said that, I was like "Hey hey uh NO."
:x
She doesn't have enough background on Mufasa (everything she knows is from Simba's point of view, and even Simba only knew his dad for about a month before he was killed) to justify her statement. She was just saying that to hurt him, because "he hurt her," when actually, she has no idea whatsoever about what really went down at the ambush, and didn't bother to ask before she yelled a comment at him that must've really stung. I mean, you just don't bring up a sensitive topic like that. So really she was just being a brat.
And also, it didn't seem to me Simba was really trying to be Mufasa. He was trying to be a good king; exiling Kovu because he thought he was a threat. True, he did not seek Kovu's opinion on what happened at the ambush, but he was trying to remove danger from his pride, not be a Mufasa wanna-be.
Just my 2 cents

This line is one of the many reasons I dislike Kiara. She was blinded by love for Kovu, who was exiled by Simba. Simba was definitely not trying to be Mufasa, he was simply protecting his Pride. Kiara had never even met Mufasa, therefore how could she accuse her father of trying to be him?

With the veil over our eyes,
we turn our back on the cause.
'Till the day that my uncles can be united by law,
when kids are walking 'round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart.
A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are.
And a certificate on paper isn't gonna solve it all,
but it's a good place to start.

I think she said that because she was sad of Simba's decision. And I think that even if she didn't live under Mufasa's reign, she knows enough on Mufasa because Simba would probably talk to her about her grandfather a lot.
