Ok guys, todays lesson is going to be on highway engineering. Y'know, because, clearly, nobody knows what the heck they're doing.
First of all, and most importantly, don't make roads narrow. Don't make them have lots of unnecessary turns, just because you think sine waves look pretty on maps. But if that isn't an option, at least don't make the speed limit 55mph. Because if people go fast on narrow, two lane roads, with lots of turns, something bad is going to happen. Alright, that can pass if nobody uses the road. But if thousands of people use the road every day, there's no excuse for that crap.
So, suppose something bad does happen. Suppose there is an accident. To let the traffic flow, a police officer, sheriff, or state trooper, should be there to direct traffic. Here's how it works:
If one lane is blocked, block traffic from one side, and let cars from the other side use the lane to get past. After a minute or two, stop both sides, then let the other side pass.
But, if the whole road is blocked and that isn't an option, there should always be an alternate route. This is known as a detour. Say it with me: detour. Very good!
Even if a detour isn't available, the least you can do is tell people that, so they don't waste their time. Would that really be too much to ask? I don't believe so.
And, lastly, if someone is stuck driving in such a situation, please, if you're a passenger, don't be an annoyance.
