Zazu nodded and then flew off to accomplish his task. He would carry it out and not tell the other animals what this was all about.

At the same time, Shujaa looked at Mufasa. "Mufasa, I will do everything in my power to protect your son during the great trial that Rafiki spoke of. If you like, I'll even be a bodyguard for Simba," he said.

The Animals Parted, Allowing Rafiki, who was returning from his tree, to ascend to Pride rock. He Greeted his friend Mufasa with a hug before starting the ceremony. After Marking the cub, Rafiki lifted him up, with great care and Presented him to the bowing and cheering Animals before returning little Simba to Sarabi.

"If you have patience you can take out the holes of an anthill," recited Zira. It was an old proverb they had learned as cubs.
Scar growled and sat back down.

The ceremony was now over. Shujaa remained at Sarafina's side, knowing that their own cub could come at any moment. He smiled at the sight of Mufasa and Sarabi admiring their newborn son. The day continued to pass. Finally, the sun started to go down and, before long, it was nighttime. After the lionesses, minus Sarabi and Sarafina, had hunted and everyone had eaten, the pride laid down to sleep. No one had any idea of the horrifying discovery that they would make in the morning.
