I'd assume the fact that some girls can be stronger then boys means that it COULD of worked, but it's most likely the way it was, was the best way of presenting the story.

They based it on Romeo and Juliet, and in that sense, the way they chose to do it was the best way, and made the most sense. And not really, it is more interesting with Kovu trying to not follow in Scar's paw prints, so if he was a female instead then you already have this big difference between the two.

I don't really think it could have worked with the genders reversed. The outsiders needed a male to take over the throne after Simba was defeated, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for them to try and challenge Simba in the first place.

Well, I looked at the movies again, and Nala was capable of defeating Simba in their fight in the jungle, and Zira knocked Simba, who was much stronger and healthier than he was during the ending of the film, off his feet with one hit during the battle in The Lion King II. With that said, a lioness would stand a chance in overpowering Simba as Nala and Zira managed to do so.

Truthfully Nala defeated Simba because she is a more skilled fighter.

Zira was only able to Knock Simba over because he was off balance when she did so (Simba had just turned to face Zira and was on his hind legs. Zira had a more favorable angle and was able to put more of her weight into her strike). Also before Zira attacked Simba had been fighting 12 lionesses (He defeated the last 6 right before Zira attacked). Leaving him only 1 to 2 seconds to catch his breath before Zira (who had not been doing any fighting at that point) made her move.

It in obviously not impossible for a lioness to defeat a lion 1 on 1, however it is a lot less likely that a lioness would defeat a lion in a 1 on 1 fight.

I doubt that would be possible with the Romeo and Juliet theme. And besides, Simba probably had gotten much stronger in SP so the Outsiders would need a male cub. Zira sending a female to defeat Simba AND possibly his son doesn't sound right to me..

A girl can be stronger than a male though, personally saying a girl can't defeat Simba is sexist. Just a little bit. Not trying to get on any bad sides though. I do believe in KopaxVitani but this is the way it COULD'VE worked out with a gender switch:

Simba's male heir could've fallen in love with Zira's female heir. Getting on the male heir's good side, she could talk to Simba in private near the gordge and ask about Mufasa, then the Outlanders come and drive him off the ledge by running at him, clawing and stuff, the fall killing him. The female heir could've been sympathetic, then becoming queen staying with Simba's heir. Letting her Pride in, and falling for Simba's heir. and then blah blah blah, big fight between her and Zira. Zira dies, by attack from the whole pride. After the Outlanders and Pridelanders unite. The Outlanders realize she's a big meany, trying to get between love and kill her. The comes marriage , then comes baby in a baby carriage. HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

Just my opinion.

You obviously looked more closer into the movies than I did. I didn't think Simba was caught off-guard after being attacked by 6-12 Outsider lionesses so that's why I came to the conclusion that a lioness could defeat Simba in a fight. Still, you've made some quite interesting points.

However, I may have forgot to include the fact that Simba was never taught properly how to fight by Mufasa nor by Timon and Pumbaa, which is why he struggled with Scar, and was defeated by Nala. Sure, he can probably fight by instinct, but being taught to fight and attack would give Zira's daughter a little advantage of defeating Simba. But, since Simba's strength has increased since the end of the first lion so Zira's daughter will struggle a bit.

Well, I don't think a girl not defeating Simba is sexist. We are speaking about lions. In reality, lions have to fight other intruding lions to protect their pride, while lionesses have to fight and take down zebras, gazelles, and other herbivores that are not as masculine and tough as rouge lions. So, that's why I think Zira's daughter will struggle a bit, but could defeat Simba in a fair fight.

Anyway, your point sounds interesting. If I understood your statement, then, Zira fights her daughter, which would, in my opinion, sound very compelling. However, I believe the story has to massively changed in order for Simba's son to fall for Scar's heiress.

^ Thank you. I do like the idea of Simba having a son and Zira having a daughter instead of Kovu and Kiara but if you look at it realistically it would not work. And dude, I'm not sexist xD It's just that male lions are more masculine/tough so they can fight other males to protect their territory, while lionesses only have to hunt herbivores which requires less strength. Of course, Simba got beaten up by Nala in the jungle but I think that was because of Simba's.. bug diet which probably made him weaker because lions need meat lol. I suppose yes, if Zira trained her daughter extremely hard she could beat Simba but I doubt it would happen seeing how masculine Simba got in SP.
