As much as I disliked it after learning about Kimba, I still nearly cried when I saw the Diamond Edition being advertised.

Aha, I like TLK, it was a childhood favorite of mine, I would watch it every night as a kid if I could

Although when I found out about Kimba I was honestly hurt that something I liked so much had theft written all over it. I knew Kimba was better, and I adored it from the moment I discovered it. It's depressing to think that so much money is being spent on TLK when Tezuka deserved some of it at least, because TLK was clearly 'inspired' by Kimba.

I stay on this forum because I like it and I like the people here. That doesn't mean I adore TLK. I did when I joined, though, because now and then I become obsessed with it. I admit TLK is a decent movie, and is quite different to Kimba, but I still prefer Kimba. I haven't watched it all the way through in years [ I get bored ] and I haven't even tried to watch SP or 1/2 since I was a kid.

I'd see the film if I could, but I don't plan on buying a movie I already have on DVD and video. Lol. I respect that you don't believe it's a ripoff, I just think Kimba is better xD

I don't think that The Lion King is a rip-off of Kimba simply because I spent more time than is healthy looking at the production clips (and written works) on the Lion King. Several scenes that are considered as "stolen" are in fact very common in fiction, and just because Kimba and The Lion King are about lions doesn't mean that The Lion King stole from Kimba. My best argument: Scar is Mufasa's brother. The big bad from Kimba is also a family member. Stolen? I think not: At first, Scar was going to be a random rogue, but then the "Hamlet" aspect was expanded, and Scar became an Uncle. Other works to use evil family members: Hamlet (source for idea), Star Wars (wasn't original in itself either), and plenty of others, including real life. Back on topic! I am going to use you guys as Guinea Pigs for how good TLK in 3D will be. I am very skeptical about it being good in 3D for several reasons: It was made in 2D, for 3D. The Lion King is best experienced in 2D therefore. the 3D release is clearly a gimick: how many of you here have your own 3D TV? Let alone a HD TV? I have a 1050p monitor. Today's HD is 1080p. This is what most people will be getting for the near future. At best, 3D will be commonplace in 5 years. Realistically, 10? Maybe 15.

And don't get me started on how long it will take Hollywood to learn how to film in 3D properly. (The showcase videos I saw all 3D the far off mountains 50 miles away. In real life, they are 2D at that distance. The 3D effect gets ruined with that kind of sloppiness).

I was born the year of TLK's original release, so I never got to see it in theaters.

Reasons I Wanna Go See It Now-
1. Love the Movie
2. Even in 3D (which I hate in theaters), this will be special since it's my fave film of all time.
3. I have never seen a traditionally animated film in theaters.
4. It will look beautiful (at least as the 3D doesn't ruin it)

^ Which is why I would recommend that you wait until the reviews for the 3D version come in. We know that it won't be like Avatar: good 3D, bad actual movie, but I am not sure how the 3D will work on a 2D animated film.

For me, that's beside the point. I know it TLK wasn't made for 3D, so unless they've really put a TONNE of effort into it, it won't look great in 3D, but the other visual aspects of it will still be there. Plus it's not only 3D or 2D that make a film amazing. TLK has a great score, and just beautiful scenery, great one liners, catchy songs etc. I'm simply looking forward to getting to experience the movie again how it was designed to be listened to etc. I think we're really lucky to get the chance to experience it in cinemas again, 3D or not.

If they fail the 3D, not even TLK will stop you from feeling nauseous or worse. Am I the only one who will go and see it with a cautious attitude? Remember: 3D is still a gimmick. Gimmicks are abused.
