Maybe those prints are the markers that Simba put for Kiara. But why would they lead to the Outlands???

In the seconds shot where they're smaller, I think that they may have Simba's prints he made when he was a cub going to the Elephant Graveyard. Afterall, they lead kinda away from the original path,and in a way she does follow in his footsteps when going to the Outlands.

Hm, I saw this and all I could think was that they were from the trail Simba marked out for her. The fact that the paw prints were smaller in the next shot was probably just a minor flaw or something to do with the angle? I dunno...

Probably not. Pawprints made in dirt don't last that long. Rain would turn the dirt to mud and the prints would be washed away. They would have to be fresh prints to be visible in the dirt.

In the pic Amanda posted, you can see that the pawprints mark a path turning away from the Outlands, like marking the border between the Pridelands and the Outlands, showing Kiara where it`s safe to go.
