Shari gave her a quick look, but then put his focus on Pride Rock. He visualized him and his pride living in peace where Simba's pride once lived. And nobody would dare stand in their way. Glancing back at the two lionesses, Shari cleared his throat and said "Very well then. Do not say I didn't warn you." Lowering his head, he let out a low growl. His mane blew in the slight wind. The silence rang in the air, until *boom!* As loud as he could muster, he let out a thunderous roar. It carried across the entire Pride Lands without remorse. But it wasn't just a simple roar.

The signal had been fired in two different directions. One for each end of land. Shari's mission was almost complete. All he had to do was kill Tivana and keep Kiara in the vicinity. It was too easy.

-------

Simba's ear perked up. Something had woken him from his slumber. Something that didn't belong in his kingdom. The first thing in his mind was Kiara. She was in danger. "Kiara!" With lightning speed, Simba rose to his feet and bolted out of the den. He scanned the grasslands below Pride Rock, searching for what didn't belong.

Simba couldn't find anything though. His daughter was nowhere to be found. Just then, something caught his eye. Two black lions on the horizon. One could have been Tivana, but Tuva was still at Pride Rock. An outsider! A low growl signaled Simba's departure. He called for Nala before he left. "Nala! Kiara's in trouble! Without another word, the king and queen took off to find Kiara.

-------

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Zira sat on her haunches next to her prince. Awaiting the signal from Shari. Ah, there it was. Zira's eyes widened with anticipation. The plan was moving to the next phase. Without looking at Kovu, she whispered "The plan is in motion... Go!" As long as he followed the direction of the roar, he'd reach Shari before it was too late.

Tivana and Kiara looked at the lion as he roared. What was going on? They couldn't quite figure it out. Was it a war cry? Was it just something random?

"Tivana don't. You have Tuva to still look over!" Kiara exclaimed, as the wind began to pick up across the pride lands. Tivana shook her head, ears pinned against her skull as they rang from the roar. She flexed her claws once again. All her training had come down to this.

"It's time I end this." She hissed. She then roared herself, before launching herself at the lion. She bit into his back, pulling him over. Kiara gasped, watching her best friend fight for her life now. She started backing up, hoping to get to the pride lands soon to get her father to help.

Kovu gave a side long glance at his mother before rising from his haunches with a growl. He would attend to his business as ordered, his friend's part in this was almost over, now just to "rescue" the Princess from her dire plight. He almost chuckled to himself as he thought of his part in the downfall of the hated king of the Pride Lands. To think that at one point he had actually thought she could be his friend, only Shari was his friend, anyone else was just in the way. His brother, his sister, they all coveted his position, the chosen one, he who would at last slay Simba, the horrible fiend who killed the only father he had ever had. So he trotted off at pace to meet his destiny. The true Prince of the Pride Lands coming home, how fitful that his friend would be there with him instead of dead as was Zira's plan. He would enjoy having someone to trust.

Shari felt the teeth sink into his back as he was pulled to the ground. He stayed motionless for a moment and contimplated all possible attacks. The one that seemed most able to pull off without a hitch was an attack on the front legs. That would rend her and make her unable to move. But she would probably be able to defend against such an attack. If Shari could make it behind Tivana, he could rip her hind legs to shreds, and she would be unable to fight back at all. But she wouldn't go down so easily. Shari would first weaken her, then he would disable her movement and finish her off.

Shari rose and lunged at Tivana, claws raised. He sunk a claw into her shoulder and pulled her over on her back. He then quickly jumped ontop of her and pinned her to the ground. Shari quickly tried to sink his teeth into her neck.

------

Meanwhile, Simba and Nala ran across the Pride Lands, their minds were on Kiara. But They also wanted to make sure Tivana was ok... somewhat. As Simba ran through the Pride Lands, he kept thinking I hope we're not too late.

Kovu picked up the pace as he began to hear the sounds of battle, good, Shari was taking care of the spare, this might be easier than he thought. He considered how to attack his friend, it had to be realistic to make the Pridelanders think he was actually trying to help. He might try a feint and a strength blow, but that was too predictable, perhaps he would try his new skills in agility, yes, that could work... First to get between Shari and Kiara though, it had to look like she was his priority. Simba and his brutish clan would be fast approaching, he had to save her before her father arrived, or else this would never work.

Tivana felt the claw sink into her shoulder. She snarled as she was thrown down. The lion pinned her down, and she was unable to move. When the lion when to bite her throat, she pushed her front paws into his chest, pushing him. She heard something coming toward them even over the wind.

"Kiara. Get out of here!" Tivana yelled. Kiara looked at her, shocked. Tivana pushed her back legs into the lion's stomach and shoved, watching as the lion stumbled back. She quickly recovered, and sank her teeth into his front leg, hoping to render it useless. She wouldn't let go.

Shari's teeth almost connected with Tivana's neck, but he was soon pushed off of the lioness. For a female, she sure could fight. Shari was enjoying this battle more than he let on. He liked that she had shown up. It gave him reason to continue the mission... and to enjoy it as well. He looked on the horizon and saw a black spec crossing over to them at blinding speed. The signal had been reached by one end. But what of the other? While they were closer to the Outlands than they were to Pride Rock, Shari had expected Simba to arrive much sooner. He would have to draw the fight out a bit longer.

"Let go you little brat!" Shari yelled as Tivana bit down into his front leg. Shari raised his leg, along with Tivana's head still gripping tightly, and slammed it into the ground. *bash!* She didn't let go. Another raise. *Bash!* Even louder and harder. She didn't flinch. Blood welled from his leg, but he continued the onslaught, not letting up and not giving an inch.

Several hits later, Shari's patience began to run dry. The hits started to slow down and decrease in power, as he lost sensation in his leg. But that didn't stop him. He wouldn't stop until his mission was complete. And nothing, numb-leg or persistant brat alike, would stop him now. He was too close to recognition. Too close to love.

Tivana's head hit the ground hard numerous times, and she about let go. But she was determined to show Simba that she could help out in the pride. That she wasn't a nuisance to the pride. She growled, still hanging on, even as the coppery taste of blood filled her jaws.

Finally letting go, she spat out the blood, before knocking him over and sinking her claws into his side, pinning him down hard. She hissed. A drop of rain hit her nose softly, along with a few others. She hissed once more.

"I'm beating you by a long shot outlander. Who's the brat now?" She taunted, then looked up. She saw the spec running toward them. But what was it. Her eyes widened, but she was still intent on the kill.

Shari finally broke free from her vicegrip and looked at his leg. It was severly injured and bleeding profusely, but that was the least of his worries. The 'brat' had pinned him to the ground hard and was now taunting him. And to make matters worse, it started to drizzle. A storm was on it's way. But how long it would take to evolve into a threat, Shari didn't know.

Even as his wound was growing mildly uncomfortable, and he was in a bad position for living, Shari wore a smile upon his muzzle. He knew how to get out of this situation and get back at Tivana. And he intended to do it as soon as possible. Not for the mission, but for pleasure. "I believe it's still you." Shari whispered to Tivana. "You just want to be accepted, that you're willing to risk your little Tuva's life. How brave." He muttered sarcastically. He remembered Tuva's name mentioned from Kiara earlier on. He didn't know if he was her son, brother, cousin, or whatever. But he knew that that was where her weakness lied.

Shari reached over to Tivana's right front leg and slowly sank his claws into her flesh, drawing blood. But not stopping there. He created a vicegrip on her leg disabling either of them to move. But he didn't stop there. He crushed his paw down on her bone. "You won't kill me now... and do you know why?" Shari questioned, still smiling in the light drizzle. "Because you want Simba here to see you do it. You're no pride lander. You're just a weak, selfabsorbed rogue searching for a home."

Tivana yelled, pain seeping through her leg. But it wasn't just from her leg. The lion had found her weak spot.

She let go of him to pull away, and fell. Her side ached as it laid on the now damp ground. She struggled from the lion's grip, but couldn't get away. Was it all true? Was she just a self absorbed rouge wanting a place? She heard the padding of feet getting closer. She hoped it was Simba, or maybe not.

"Tivana! Let her go!" Kiara cried out, stepping a little. Kiara knew the lion had struck a nerve with Tivana. Tivana laid there, breathing heavily. She decided to try one last time. Even as her leg was still under his paw, throbbing painfully, she made to swipe him across the face.
