SP was a sequel. Naturally, nobody is going to work harder on a sequel than the original. We could only expect that the art wouldn't be as good, and that characters who were in the first movie won't look the same. True he doesn't listen to Kovu, but think about it this way: Simba narrowly escaped death. Zira, who hates him and wants him dead, just pretty much told him that it was all part of Kovu's mission. Now, unless your a very forgiving or very stoopid person, you wouldn't listen to that person's apologies easily.

You cannot properly put yourself in Simba's shoes. Simba is doing everything he can to protect his pride. Granted, he contradicts himself by singing "We are One" and then leading the animals in "Not One of Us" But you have to understand, that what he does, he does out of love. Besides, he doesn't even know Kovu. Wrong. "He knows that he [has been trained to] follow in Scar's paw prints" Scar. The guy who killed his father, decimated the Pride Lands, abused his family, and tried to kill Simba as well. I don't know about you, but that's pretty persuasive.

He gave Scar a chance yes... until Scar did the following:
. Tried to turn Simba's own pride against him.
. Told him that he killed Mufasa.
. Attempted to blame the whole plan on the hyenas to save his own skin.
. And let's not forget he tried to kill Simba too.

Now after all that, would you give Kovu a chance, especially after a near death experience that was allegedly his plan?

Yes, Although he was trained to be the new scar, didn't the big "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" give it away that he didn't mean the attack, and that it was out of his control. Plus, he isn't scar.
