Twilight Embrace
As soon as Kivuli dashed away from Zizi he felt a little guilty leaving her in such a way, but he had to otherwise they both would have been in huge trouble. Still he had to make sure she would be fine. There was a nearby ditch that was just big enough for Kivuli to duck into and watch the situation with Simba and Zizi. He jumped straight in and looked over. His heart was pounding. He had no idea if Zizi would help him or not. All he could do was just watch and wait to see what happened 'Please Zi, don't give me up.....don't give me up'. His head was buzzing and heart rate increasing. It was now or never
To his relief, Kivuli watched as Simba and the pride turned and walked away. Taking a deep breath he started a slow and steady run back to the outlands. The night was really beginning to set in. The sun was going down and the stars began to twinkle in the east while it faded to a gentle orange in the west as the sun began its final decent behind the horizon. Kivuli thoughts were still currently on Zizi and how he had just ran off 'Zi....I am so sorry. I wanted to hold you and smile with you one last time before I had to go. I just couldn't. You don't need the danger of the life I now live. I just wish there was a way to show you I do still care even after whats happened'
Kivuli slowed his pace. He was nearing the river crossed into the outlands and the tree that spanned the gap. He carefully made his way across, and no sooner had he stepped foot on the broken ground, did he hear a call from behind him 'KIVULI!!' He jumped on the spot and looked back to see who it was. Sure enough it was Zizi, she had caught up to him. For a moment the both of them did nothing but stare at each other. They had both changed so much in such a short time but still had the feelings and bonds that had grown between them all those months ago. Throwing any caution to the wind Kivuli walked back over to see her
The grey beast walked towards her with a smile and when he got close enough, they embraced each other and nuzzled 'What are you doing here?' asked Kivuli in a very concerned tone 'If Simba finds you we are both in danger' Zizi nuzzled deeper into him and let a few tears out 'I don't care. What he did to you and your brother is wrong, I just cant do anything about it. Your the greatest friend I ever had and I'm not going to let anyone separate us' They embraced once more before headed a little out the way to a nearby tree to relax. Kivuli lay down first and Zizi lay next to him and snuggled into his side
'I'm sorry I ran off like that' He apologised 'I didn't want to cause you any danger' Zizi just smiled at him 'I don't blame you, I'm just glad your here now, I have missed you so much, I couldn't just let you run away without seeing you once more' Kivuli wrapped his paw round her and nuzzled 'So... erm.... hows life been here since I left' asked Kivuli hesitantly. Zizi shrugged '[b]Boring if I'm honest. I know I have Ashur but you and your brother made it for us really. Then there's the boring old hunting lessons, I swear sometimes my mom drives me crazy with it all.
The two of them just sat for a while under the starry sky exchanging the life stories. Zizi went on about, how she and Ashur adapted without their friends, the pride reaction to Zira and her gang and of course the recent birth of the new princess. Kivuli in turn told her of the outlands. How Zira brutally trained everyone except Kivuli who did it by himself and how he and Kokota would hunt at night to keep healthy and strong. Finally of course Kivuli mentioned his plan to one day attack and kill Simba for revenge
Zizi looked at him with sorrowful eyes 'Kivuli....don't kill him please... at least.. try not to please. He has been a good father to me, I'd rather not see him go. I do want to be with you but... just don't kill if you can avoid it please' Kivuli sighed and looked at the ground. Killing Simba was his goal, but at the cost of upsetting Zizi? He didn't know if he could do it. This wasn't a decision he could just jump into 'Ok, I won't aim to just kill him' Zizi's eyes lit up as she licked his muzzle. Kivuli knew that it was a lie though. The truth was he couldn't decide all he could do is keep her happy, for now that was enough
It was starting to get late. The sun had been taken by horizon and replaced by an half moon that illuminated the grassy plains along with the stars of the great kings, sparkling in the night. Zizi rose up and smiled warmly 'I should get going. Thank you Kivuli for all this. Maybe we can see each other again' She said no more and began walking off. Kivuli jumped up 'Hey wait' Zizi turned her head to face her friend 'Come back here. Tomorrow. This doesn't have to be good bye' Once again her eyes lit up. Kivuli wanted to keep seeing her and she was more than happy to accept the offer. Both said their good nights and parted ways. Little did they know however, Vitani, who just exploring the area, caught sight of the incident and ran back to inform Zira
