In Love and War [Private]

PLOT:

Two groups of wanderers, each full of young lions eager to create their own prides, survive out in the savannah, waiting to meet others to recruit to their own pride.

However, when the two finally meet each other, will there be peace and harmony between them? Or will they bicker amongst themselves...?

The savannah was bright and airy, as usual--the birds twittering above, the sun playing across the grass in waves, and the air, dry and warm.

Zorayda lay on her back, soaking up the rays and basking in the happy atmosphere around her. Her wandering group stood or lay around her, apparently enjoying the weather as well. Odongo, the large white male, was the closest to her.

"Hey, Odo, what do you feel like doing today?" She asked casually. It seemed only fitting that they should have a hunt or travel a bit--whatever they wanted to do in this free lifestyle.

"No it isn't!"

"Yes, it is!"

Two lions stood a foot apart from each other, snarling and growling in each others' faces. One was a tall, handsome golden male adolescent with a black mane that was halfway done growing, and the other was a smaller, plain looking lioness with brilliant orange eyes. Their hackles were raised in anger and they didn't take their eyes off of each other.

"I'm telling you, Taro," the female snarled at the male, "my butt is NOT bigger than an okapi's!"

Taro let out a snort of laughter and his muzzle dropped down to hide his fangs again. "And I'M telling you, it's humongous!" And he flopped to the ground, unable to stand it anymore. He rolled around in laughter, batting his chocolate colored toes into the air.

"Oh--man--your--your face...it's so hilarious...oh man, hahahahaha..."

Eeve, as was the female's name, sank back on her haunches and pounced, landing neatly with all four feet upon Taro's golden underbelly.

"Say you're sorry!" she growled, though a smile tugged at the edge of her lips.

"Never..hahahaha!" Taro laughed.

Eeve looked to a lioness just near them. "Jata..." she whined. "Make him say he's sorryyyy!"

(( It's great to be back! ))

It was a bright and sunny day, as usual in the savahana grasslands of Africa. Even when shade presented it's self, it usually was only fleeting and short lived, offering no hope of shelter from the baking sun.

Luckily for Odongo, he was a rare White lion, and thankfully nature made White a colour that reflected light, giving him some respite from the worst heat. But even he could not stay in the baking sun long, and as a rule, was very lazy! 

At the first opportunity he would always lay on his back, even though he thought it would look strange from others points of view, and preferably draped over rocks, which was what he was doing now.

He was almost asleep when he heard his friend, Zirayada call his name. Yet he didn't wake up, he rarely did, he just wanted to rest. So he did.

Little did he know, the other lion in his group was watching the scene unfold. He had a quiet laugh when Odongo, or Odo, didn't respond, and slowly walked from his hiding place in the shadows. His jet black fur and red eyes giving him good stealth in the shadows, and an even better hunting advantage when they hunted after dark.

Walking out and to Zor(ayada) he spoke softly, as he always did to her, as he had a kind if soft spot for Zorayada, even though he would never admit it to anyone. Let alone Zorayada herself. "Good morning Zor, You know it's still to early for Mr White to get up yet, or maybe he's already awake and just pretending! Bardu asked raising his voice as he spoke the latter part of the sentence.

"But that doesn't stop us having a bit of fun" he said with a sly wink, gingerly picking up a small stone, "First one to wake him looses" and with that, he threw the stone into Odongos mane, making him twitch and moan before settling again.

"Your turn..." Bardu said, picking up another stone and handing it to Zor

Jata was not a very smart lioness, she had been left a short while after becoming an adult, and was nearly dead when Eeve and Taro found her, luckily her and Eeve had become friends fast, and Taro allowed her to join soon afterwards.

They had taught her everything she knew, she saw them as her mother and father, even if they weren't and knew that they would always be together, but that didn't stop them arguing.

So far, it was neck and neck in results and Eeve was itching to get ahead, or so it seemed! Jata watched intently as the two rallied insults and comments off each other. Some made her laugh, and she was still laughing when Eeve turned and asked for her help.

"I'm sorry for laughing Eeve, of course I'll help you" she said, getting up and walking towards the pinned Taro. She bent down and sniffed him, and rubbed his ear with her nose, as she always seemed to do. She looked up at Eeve one last time and gave her a sly wink before bending back down to Taro.

Whispering, she spoke to Taro. "Taro... She's going to win this, so accept defeat, let her win, you'll have your chance, just say sorry, and maybe you'll have your chance next time, just say your sorry, because she's really hurt, and you know what she can be like angry" she joked, and just to seal it, Jata quickly and gently kissed just behind Taros ears, pulling away she spoke aloud, "Taro, do you have something to say?"

OOC: Wow Naki, you've gotten better at rp'ing!

Zorayda giggled and rolled over to get to her feet, shaking off the grass and dirt that had stuck to her dark brown fur. She trotted over to where Bandu was and winked at him.

"Okay, here it goes," she said slyly. She took the stone from Bandu and flung it gently at the sleeping white lion, trying to hit his mane, but instead it hit Odongo's ear! "Whoops!" she said, giggling.

She sprang backwards and prepared to make a run for it, just in case Odongo awoke and was angry.

Taro smiled at Jata as she walked towards him and flopped down onto his side. He knew she'd be on Eeve's side, they always seemed to gang up on him. Females, puh, he thought as he listened to Jata's whispered words. He returned her affection with a quick nuzzle before letting out a deep and pained sigh.

"All right, all right, you two girls win..."

Eeve harrumphed triumphantly and sat on her haunches. "That's right. Girls rule and boys drool," said the adolescent lioness. Eeve wasn't always this talkative; she had been around these two for a long time, and she'd gotten used to them and could therefore feel comfortable enough to be chatty with them.

Eeve walked up to Jata and winked at her before saying, "Thanks, J. We gals gotta stick together, ya know?" and she playfully batted at Jata's left ear. The lioness hadn't been with them for a very long time--only a few months, and all three of the lions were very young. Eeve was glad they had found young Jata before she'd died...Eeve shuddered at the thought of not having her best friend around...

Odongo didn't move, he just lay there, not feeling a thing, all he did was flick his ear agitatedly, and then flick his tail, before letting out a low grumble from his stomach. He hadn't eaten in a while and was feeling hungry, even if he wasn't awake to show that.

Bardu laughed and looked at Zor with a confused expression, she looked as if she was about to run, but they both knew Odongo too well, and even if he woke up, he wouldn't hurt them, or so they hoped! Especially Bardu, he had once seen Odongo in a full on rage when he was younger, an it scared him, even the thought, but he knew that would never happen again.

"My turn" Bardu said, picking up another stone, and carefully taking aim. "He shoots.... And Scores!" Bardu said as he threw the stone, making it land on Odongos tummy, letting him emanate another low rumble, making Bardu laugh again. "Your turn Zor!" he said in hysterics, looking about for his next stone.

All the while, Odongo was unaware of what was happening, and lay, asleep, unaware of what was to come.

"YEAH!" Jata shouted playfully, "Girls Rule Boys Drool" looking at Taro, she winked, and wondered if that would ever become of anything, but her thoughts were quickly distracted, even though she wished they hadn't been, as Eeve spoke. "Yeah, we gotta stick together! Who knows how bad Taro would get if we let him?!" She said playfully, dodging the bat, as she bunted her best friend

She knew deep down, that she was safe and well, but something didn't seem right, she could sense something coming, but she didn't know what. So she kept silent and didnt look around, But seeing Taros tail swaying, and her cubby intuition taking over again, she whispered two words to Eeve, [b]"Watch this" Before pouncing at Taros tail and laughing as she did so.

She was still a Cub inside and hoped that that part of her would never leave. Yet she longed to be all grown up, and one day find a mate, and be a part of a pride with her friends, but that day could wait, in the mean time she had a tail to catch!

Zorayda giggled and got up from her tense stance. She knew Odongo wouldn't be terribly angry, but if he woke up, he'd definitely be some kind of grumpy. She watched as Bardu's rock skittered and bounced on the big, white lion's belly and stifled a chortle. The wind blew her fringe out of her right eye and revealed a milky white, blind eye. She instantly stopped laughing and patted the hair back down, self-conscious about her disability. It also made her feel ugly and lopsided when it showed.

She quickly picked up another rock to cover for the moment and tossed it at Odongo, a little harder than she'd intended. It hit his ribs with a dull thunk, and Zorayda winced at the sound. She hoped it hadn't really hurt him.


"Hey, B?" she asked quietly, now that she was close to him. "Does my...blind eye, uh, bug you...at all?" She was standing a little awkwardly, a small frown on her face.

Taro flicked his tail out of the way when Jata pounced at it, her blue eyes dancing with cub-like mirth. He swatted a big paw at her nose with the intention of startling her, a big grin on his face. His emerald eyes were sparkling with happiness at their play.

Since he'd met her, Taro had...strange feelings around Jata. His stomach would get dance-y and he felt happier around her. She was about the same age as he, with his half-grown mane and underdeveloped muscles, and he was acutely aware of her at all times.

Eeve giggled loudly, but decided to stand away from the two lions. It was a hot day, and she was getting tired easily. "All right, you two overgrown cubs!" she shouted, smiling. "Who's comin' with me to catch dinner? Also, we need to get a move on if we're gonna find any other lions around here..."

Before Bardu could reply, Odongo gave out a large moan, as if he was stirring, but he wasn't, he was dreaming, of what no one would know. Bardu gave out a small laugh, which may have sounded rude to Zor as it would have been his reply.

"Zor... I'm sorry, I wasn't laughing at you..." he said apologetically, hoping he hadn't insulted his friend, "I was laughing at Odongo..." He said as he thought about what his friend had said. What could he say? She was a good friend, and he had some weak feelings for her, she was stunningly pretty, but something was always nagging at him, telling him he shouldn't like her the way he thought he did.

Realizing he hadn't spoken he quickly stumbled upon some words. Ohhh... Errr... errr... I.... I don't mind.... it.... I mean... It makes you... Special... he stuttered nervously .... I don't mean special... Ii mean.... unique.... it make you.... You!" he said more determined and easier as he went on.

He then turned and walked towards Zor, making sure there muzzles were almost touching, he used his paw to reach up and move the fringe covering Zor's blind eye. he looked into here eyes, her brilliant, stunningly beautiful Blue eye, and her cloudy, milky one. They complimented each other perfectly. he lost all rational thought at the sight of her eyes, and leaned forwards, kissing her nose.

Seeing Taros tail being flicked out of the way, Jata felt sad, but as she looked up seeing Taros brilliant and gem like Emerald eyes enticed her in. she felt safe and calm, not knowing that she was seeing love in his eyes, and not realizing she was mimicking his expression, it was as if she never wanted to look anywhere again when she caught sight of a paw entering her peripheral vision.

Immediately she snapped away blushing as she did so, dodging the paw easily, as she was intended to, but she turned around, and gave a little snap at the paw playfully as a cub. At that moment in time, she thought about what this would be like if she was actually a cub, if this is what her childhood was like. She guessed Taro would pull his paw away, and had a thought*. As taro pulled his paw away, she extended her tong, and licked his paw, making sure her body was angled so Eeve wouldn't see*.

As her tong registered fur beneath it, she quickly picked up on many things. he had his own musky scent, mixed in with the smell of the Savannah, and the flavor of the last kill*. Strangely she also tasted another lions scent, no wait, a lion-esses scent. she knew they hadn't seen any other lions, and certainly not any other lionesses, she also knew what Eeve smelled like, being around her for a while, so that could only mean one thing*. It's my scent...* she gasped realizing that he must have been sleeping close to her, but those thoughts were disrupted as Eeve spoke.

With a grin and a blush on her face, Jata through her head back, making sure Eeve wouldn't see her face, she spoke sarcastically, and unconsciously she said "Yes Mum" as a cub would to there mother, "As long as Taro can come" She joked hoping Eeve would play along to the parent act. But as she turned to look back at Eeve, she quickly hid the blush, and leaned towards him, and gently kissed his cheek, quickly before running back to Eeve's side, hiding her blushing and emotion quickly. "Where are we going mum?" Jata asked. Looking around Jata saw Taro still standing where she kissed him, "You coming?" she shouted cub like to Taro.

Zorayda pinned her ears at Bardu's sudden laugh, thinking that he thought her pain was funny. Her eyes suddenly stung with tears that made her eyes glassy and her lower lip trembled ominously.

Then the lion apologized.

"Zor... I'm sorry, I wasn't laughing at you...I was laughing at Odongo..."

Zorayda's eyes were still full of tears that threatened to fall, but her heart rose as she realized he wasn't laughing at her obvious self-image issue.


"Ohhh... Errr... errr... I.... I don't mind.... it.... I mean... It makes you... Special... .... I don't mean special... Ii mean.... unique.... it make you.... You!"

She smiled gently at the way he stumbled over his words, obviously uncomfortable. Then she flinched as he reached his paw up to her face, and a few tears fell to the ground. He moved her fringe and looked into both of her mismatched eyes, and the expression on his face seemed...serene, but emotional. Then he reached forward and...kissed her nose!

Zorayda could feel a warm blush under her brown fur begin and cover her whole face. Then a slow, happy grin began to take over her muzzle. Bardu didn't she was ugly after all...the thought made her excessively happy.

"Thanks, Bardu," she whispered quietly. She began to purr softly and she slipped her head under his chin for a moment before backing away again to walk towards Odongo.

"Do you think I should wake him up?" she called to Bardu.

Eeve watched the two lions as they frolicked and gamboled about and smiled to herself. She was very happy for the two, really. She saw the subtle signs between Jata and Taro that suggested something more than friendship and more than gratefulness on Jata's part. She saw when Taro sneaked over to snuggle Jata for a few hours at a time, just to watch her sleep. She could see the way they looked at each other with love in their eyes. She sighed gently. If only there was someone out there for her...

Taro's face went slack with surprise at Jata's affections and didn't move after she trotted away from him and towards Eeve. He seemed like he was in mild shock.

Eeve laughed at Jata's sarcastic words, calling her "mom" because Eeve had called the two of them 'overgrown cubs'. "Very funny, J," The orange-eyed lioness said. "We'll go towards that water hole over there," she said, pointing west. "Let's go!" Eeve shouted over her shoulder, and she sped away.

"You coming?" Jata had shouted to Taro, and he snapped out of his quick reverie. He was re-imagining the feel of her rough, warm tongue on his face and paw, imagining how it must feel to cuddle her, caress her, and to feel her close to him...

"Um...yeah..." he said, and he sprang to his feet to try and keep up with them.

I... I'm sor..." was all Bardu could manage before the lioness in front of him did something he thought would never happen. Zor, The lioness he had always seen as a leader, a friend, a warrior, and cute, had just given him the happiest feeling of his life.

Bardu began to purr instantly, all thoughts emptying from his head in that one moment of contact. Bardu was about to speak when Zor moved away, His expression said it all, he was shocked and felt sad, that one moment could have made him so happy, and the next he had lost it all. He pained to feel Zorayada's soft fur against his own, but she had began to move away.

Not hearing what she had said, Bardu just stood there, looking shocked and sad. his eyes were watery, and looked directly at Zor, his eyes locked on her, a tear forming in his eyes, knowing the moment was over.

An evil thought occurred to Jata as she ran, "Eeve!" she said, above the howl of the wind, but not loud enough for Taro to hear. "Should we out run him?" Jata asked, knowing he would put up a good, chase, and it would be fun to see how Taro reacted... Without waiting Jata said again. "So can we? PLEASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Zorayda pranced on her feet, the smile never leaving her face. She didn't wait to hear Bardu's answer before bounding off happily to wake up Odongo.

"Wheeee!" she shouted, and sprang gracefully into the air with all four paws extended. She came sailing downwards, directly towards the unknowing white lion. Whump! Her whole body slammed into the big lion, but she didn't just land with her feet. The silly brown lioness crash-landed onto Odongo and became entangled in his limbs, and her chin landed squarely on his rump.

"Whooooof!" she exclaimed, all the air rushing from out of her lungs. She couldn't draw a proper breath and her eyes watered with pain. "Probably...shouldn't...have done...that..." she wheezed.

Eeve's face twisted into a smirk.

"You're on," she said to Jata, and she put on a huge burst of speed. Eeve was the fastest of the three lions, and soon, she left Jata a little ways behind as well. Taro, on the other hand, would be caught unawares of the two lionesses' plan.

Taro, behind the girls, was panting with exhaustion. "Come...on, guys," he whined, out of breath. "You know I'm not in very good shape...."

He grumbled to himself as he ran as hard as his body would let him, but his male bulk weighed him down considerably. "Fine..." he shouted breathlessly ahead. "I'll catch uppppppp!"

(( Bardus Point Of View )) Seeing what Zorayada had just done, Bardu was in disarray. He thought she loved him, and would have turned before waking odongo up, but that was not the case, she hadnt given him a second look, and gone ahead and jumped on Odongo. Normaly his fun side would have kicked in, but swing Zorayada tangled in Odongos paws, he growled, turned and started walking off, silently fuming.

(( Odongos Point Of View )) Odongo had been dreaming, the most amazing dream. He dreamt that he had met a lioness who lobed him, and he loved, they had instantly fallen in love, and were about to kiss when something hard and heavy crashed into him. All the breath he had left him and he coughed violently. Now being woken isn't a particulally not a nice experience. Waking up with a lioness laying on you, her chin on your rump, was more 'pleasurable' and he didn't move for a while.

When he got his breath back, Odongo began to purr loudly not realising it was Zorayada on him. His purrs drowned out her speech and after a few more moments he spoke. hey there sexy, what are you doing with me? he had an innocent smile on his face and a loving glint in his eye should she look up. He was ready!

Jata knew she didn't have a hope in hell of catching Eeve, but she could taunt Taro as he ran. She ran with her head tilted to one side so she could see taro, and hear him. When he shouted, Jata laughed and skilled, knowing what she was going to say would be helarious to anyone who knew the two of them.

Come on you big oaf, if you manage to catch me, I'll let you sleep with me tonight! she shouted back to Taro, a happy seductive grin plastered on her face. She was about to turn and run when an after thought occured. And I'll let you kiss me all night if you want! she shouted, now acting like a very fast giddy cub
