Unfortunately I just don't see a place for Kopa in SP. Introducing him late in the story would be a bad idea, and he wouldn't get nearly enough time to be a real character, and it'd be too tricky to squeeze him in from cubby age as well.

Of course! I do too. I still count Kopa as an official character, eventhough he’s not in the movie.

The idea of Kovu and Kiara being like Romeo and Juliet is accurate (save for the dying) but it would have been extremely difficult for anyone to play the brother of Kiara, he would have to have died to make the love work, if you have seen the movie Romeo and Juliet you know that Juliet's older brother gets killed by Romeo, the same would have had to happen to Kopa to make it work.
