Babysitting!!

There are a few things you could do...

Burn out their energy and get them to sleep.
Put them in front of the TV
Show em' who's boss!!

I would suggest playing a fairly physically active game for a looooong time. Then they'll have used most of their energy and will be calm enough to enjoy a snack in front of the TV BTW how long are you going to have to babysit them for?

How old are they and you, if I can ask?

I babysit my lil' cousin who's 4 now and I noticed it's always better to get out the House.
Get a Ball and take them to a park for football (or soccer if you insist on calling it that ), take some food / Drink and get them to take their Bikes down when they visit. It's a classic good day out or afternoon and best of all won't cost a penny and will knacker them out too .

Maybe see what events are on locally? I took my little Cousin to Brighton Modelworld with me and some friends. It was literally a Model Convention with boats, replica steam trains, characters etc. They had the Robots from Robot Wars out on the day too with actual Blades and Flamethrowers.. not sure who enjoyed it more, me or him lol.

If you can afford it, or your Parents are ok to fund it.. The Cinema never fails!

EDIT: If you have to stay in, DVD (introduce them to TLK lol) and I like to break out my old Games and Toys from the Loft for my Cousin too. He plays Super Mario on the old Snes quite a bit.

Uhhh, if you're stuck indoors, then hide and seek or simon says or one of those kiddie games is always funnn. ish.. (:
If you can go outside, give them sugar, so they're really hyper, and then later they'll completely crash and want to rest (:

If they’re not interested in listening to stories or playing board games, I’d suggest playing some kind of sport with them. Take them outside so they can run and scream and burn most of their energy.
I suppose after a while they’ll get tired and calmer. By then you could take them back inside and try to make them snacks and/or show them a movie... Wind them down, idk.

But of course the most important thing is to letting them know you’re the boss. Don’t allow them to walk all over you, be firm and consistant.

Uh.. that being said, I’m the youngest in my family and have NO excperience with kids whatsoever, lol. This is just stuff I think would work. I’ve watched a lot of Supernanny, lol.
