“Yeah, and you’ll be joining your mom.” Conal nastily snarls. Jay goes silent.

"Conal! Not okay!" Kayla scolds him.

Jay didn’t know whether to feel rage or feel sad as he stared at Conal. He saw nothing. No hint of emotion, regret, or sympathy. Empty.
“I know, don’t care.” Conal replies. “Can you move now Jay?”

"Seriously, get some rest."

“I literally just wanted to get water.” Conal finally pushes past Jay and leaves walking on his 3 working legs. Jay just watches as he goes.

"I can get it for you, if you'd like." Kayla offers.

“No, I got it.” Conal says turning a corner and getting out of sight.
“I can’t believe I was convinced to save him!” Jay says in a mixed emotion.
