Two observations:

1) If this wasn't a 'black' remake before, it most definitely is now.
2) I'm sure Disney just drove off ≥20% of its potential fan base for this particular movie with this casting consideration.

I have no real qualms with this, though I'm far from being an actual Beyoncé fan and I'd have gone with someone else as my first choice, if only because this feels a little like a random grab for star power more than anything else. On the other hand, having her and Childish Gambino playing alongside each other does make sense if this means that we'll get them dueting on "Can You Feel the love Tonight".

I'm actually kinda glad they didn't pick Lupita Nyong'o, only because she's kinda been typecast as Hollywood's go-to African female lead. I'd actually carry over Gabrielle Union from The Lion Guard's version of Nala, or have Laura Williams and/or Niketa Calame come back to reprise their roles from the original movie now that they're both adults. (They were cub Nala's singing and speaking voices, respectively.) It would've been a nice homage to the original casting and a little fan service/easter egg to anyone familiar with the 1994 cast.

Um everyone I just got some information from a friend of mine that she heard a few days ago on the radio that in this remake SCAR will not be killing Mufasa, and that he will be good (hoping this is not true. I also noticed that it says there making Simba gay now that better not be true cause they cant do that according to the way of nature. Animals are straight. I am all about dont believe everything you hear.

It's an April Fool's joke. I just found the article it originated from (http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/04/01/si ... -confirms/) which has a bunch of incorrect statements regarding the movie that we know already are false, such as Elton John penning new music for the film and a release date of June 31st, which isn't an actual date since June only has 30 days - plus, Beyoncé is actually in consideration to play Nala and everyone was flipping the duck out about it. Itsn't about biology, it's about plot! Simba was not gay in the original movie. (And with whom could he mate anyway, he was the only lion in that oasis)
If they wanted to make gay characters they could consider making Pumba and Timon official.
