I wouldn't want people to be in the same boat as me. I like my friends to not have hardships of this nature.

That's kinda always the attitude I've had towards my friends. I will gladly take some of their burdens if I can... as long as they don't have to feel the same way I once did.

TBH, I think it kind of runs in the family. If my dad had treated me the same way he was treated by his dad/step-dad... well, things could have turned out very, very differently for me. Luckily, though, that wasn't the case.
