4. "I don't like Simba's design nor his voice."

I can't believe that I would've ever said that sentence. I was very disappointed with the way my favorite character is designed for the show and I felt so akward watching the trailer whenever he came up. I know Rob Lowe is no Matthew Broderick, but I do hope to accept his new voice as I continue to watch the show. It's more of his design that bothers me rather than the voice.

I think that simba's new voice actually suits him imo.

Disney probably just made him a little older age wise, so it's possible that his voice got deeper.

Don't like Simba either... Way to deep and not sensual enough (if that makes sense), everyone else is basically spot on and I like it.

I can see the lion guard lasting for three seasons at least. Depending on how well the merch sells maybe 4-5.

Remember, TLG is part of a franchise that includes

-the number one traditionally animated movie of all time, boxoffice-wise at least. It has close to 800 million in 1994, second only to jurassic park at the time. Including re-releases it's close to a billion. It has the second highest grossing franchise upon theatrical re-release (the first is star wars)
-the number one selling vhs of all time
-the highest grossing broadway musical of all time
-one of the highest selling blu rays
-one of the, if not the, biggest selling direct to vhs sequels (tlk2 has sold over 17 million copies)

This show isn't going to tank in ratings. It's also a regular disney channel thing and not disney XD.

To put things into perspective, disney just renewed their 'guardians of the galaxy' animated series for a second season and that's a show which premiered a month ago on a premium channel and not the regular disney channel.

As another LK fan who's seen the first film back in the summer of 1994, I could see some of what you wrote maybe applying to the premiere. But I'm not looking at that for the regular part of the series if it's still going to be part of Disney Junior. Then again, I'm just neutral to slightly less from that right now on this whole series and especially with Timon's physical appearance from this latest trailer. Which continues to personally bother me as a person who foremost likes Timon, about the creators, because I really do think they could've done better on his appearance regardless of whatever their reason was for not doing so. Then again, the Disney company could also make some last minute decisions on this.

Keep in mind also that not everyone in the fandom is as enthusiastic about this new series as you may be. Just because it's new doesn't necessarily cut it or will for everyone including myself and especially with all of the media that's already been released. Which is a Good deal to look on already and on how it's gonna go. I'll always see the film trilogy as the best of the animated franchise in my book and also considering the way the world is nowadays. And my philosophy remains the same as I had written here last year, on the Disney company's decision to put something new like this into the franchise now. It's just my thoughts and recommendations.

So long story short, we'll just see what happens during these three new months or so.

^ That's exactly what I'm at least hoping for with my favorite meerkat person. Timon's personality being a lot like that of the films. Especially from who he is of 1 1/2. To me, I fully consider everything about Timon himself from his film, including his mother and uncle, canon.

I did see from one of the sources that talked about the upcoming Lion Guard that it was supposedly going to follow all three films. So I think it's possible and will hope that Timon's Ma and Uncle Max could make at least a brief appearance in the series or the premiere.

I also accept Lion King 1 1/2 as canon (Albeit Timon's view of Canon). I don't think Ma and Uncle Max are in danger of being retconned out of existence. After all Timon must have had a mother. Also if she did make an appearance, it would make sense as I am sure she would view Bunga as a grandson.

Although, this pretty much kills all of the fan theories people have about Timon having a meerkat character mate and children of his own that I've seen on DeviantArt and Fanfiction.net. Because I don't think Timon will have any time to raise a meerkat family of his very own after Bunga. He'll be a decrepit meerkat person by then.

I don't think they would retcon Timon's mother and uncle in any way since they're official in the film franchise from 1 1/2, only. Before 1 1/2 was made, the creators of the T & P television show had a very disconnected idea for Timon's mother (two of them, I think) and the whole idea (including their relationship) is almost completely contrary to the film universe. But then again, the TV show was just a spin-off of the first film.

Now that I think about it more with Timon's appearance on the preview media for the premiere episode, I'm thinking I may not want to see how Ma and Uncle Max would look if they are going to make an appearance (this is only If the LG creators do have any ideas for them). So instead, it may be better if they were just referenced by Timon which would be alright with me for this new series. I could also be intrigued if Timon and Kion have some one-on-one interaction / association since I already know Timon is just going to be a supporting character here. But I can always hope that my fave, himself, might be able to shine a little more in at least one episode or on the premiere.

Although, just as I knew from the very beginning, Disney is pretty much sticking to their idea of "Timon and Pumbaa" with the media that's already been released for this new show. So that tells me right there that they're more apt to just follow the ideology of the first film. So in the end, in terms of Ma and Max making an appearance on LG, I don't think we'll have too much to look forward to on this.

No crap people aren't as enthusiastic about this as me, people have been complaining and moaning about it since announcement. Some going to rather extreme lengths (i've seen numerous 'disney ruined my life' posts that lacked a trace of irony) so excuuuuuse me for getting excited over a new tlk animated series that i've been waiting 21 years for. While I kind of like tlk1.5 I loathe the timon and pumbaa show.

Timon the Great, as much as the lot of us don't like the truth about how the style looks, truth is from Disney, New animators new look, new styles, yes it sucks and its sad and Im not happy with Disney at all on that fact either but we are powerless to convince them other wise, all we can do is get used to it get over it and move on, if you need to take some time to think over it, that's what I did. It takes time getting used to change. im mean look at how my little pony changed from past years, right? others didnt like it but it became a big hit anyway.

Well I think we can expect The Lion Guard to have 23 episodes, so who knows what guest stars may show up or what characters may have substantial parts to play.

a lil late 2 the party, but here's my thoughts!

- for some reason it didn't even occur to me that Kiara might be depicted as a cub in TLG. i had just automatically assumed this would be taking place after SP and i was really looking forward to the adult sister/little brother dynamic, that would've been rly cute. i've been open-minded about this whole thing but i have to say this is the first thing abt TLG that has disappointed me. )~: i hope they can make it work but yeah....really puts a damper on things
- the art is beautiful!! especially the scenery! i'm sad to see people unhappy w/ the animation. i'm pretty thrilled about it. when TLG was first announced i was worried we'd be getting 3D computer animation, like a lot of the other disney jr shows, so honestly when the teaser came out i was just relieved it was 2D animation.
- really glad to see Simba. i think he looks great. didn't notice anything off w/ his design and no complaints about the voice actor
- luuuuv the hyena designs
- glad that it's lookin like TLG will have a lot of beauty, emotion, and seriousness to it, much like the original film. the trailer seems to be playing up that ""epic"" sort of feel, and that's what any good installment to the TLK franchise needs
- the other members of the Lion Guard all look very promising to me, especially Fuli and Ono! yeah sure Bunga is a lil annoying but i like his design and i think he will be fine

overall still incredibly excited to finally be getting a TLK show focused on lion characters after all this time. still incredibly excited to see new TLK things happening in 2015. those 2 pros far outweigh any cons, imo.

I felt the same way when I found out that Lion Guard was set within Lion King 2 rather than after it. However if they work to tie it all together it could make for some very interesting stories. Once the positive aspect of this story angle was pointed out to me, I felt much better.

I don't have to get used to it because simply put, I can just choose to ignore it if I want to. No one can force me to like this new series (or get used to it). Just like I can't force anyone to like, get used to, or not hate Timon (and there's a lot of people in the fandom who don't like or care about him already).

As a veteran fan, it is nice to see that the LK franchise is being refreshed. But like I said, I don't have to like it if I don't want to after seeing the premiere and I can express my own views about it on here, whether I like the series or not because this is a forum. I know maybe this sounds a little harsh and I don't mean it to be. But this is reality.

Well Bunga is a badger, right? It'd only make sense that he'd be adopted to them since he's not a meerkat or a warthog. And the thing about Ma is a given because the deleted scenes from 1 1/2 make it quite clear that she supports Timon whole-heartedly in everything he does.
