Wolf Song


Thor and Aleu had just become mates. Thor, a handsome young wolf with dark brown fur and striking brown eyes, admired his beautiful new mate as she sat on a boulder.

“Wow…she’s beautiful,” he said quietly, his eyes focused squarely on Aleu.

“What was that? I didn’t quite catch that,” Aleu said with a playful chuckle.

Thor smiled.

“I said you were beautiful,” he said.

Aleu leapt down from the boulder and licked his face. Her gorgeous, gemstone-like eyes took on a flirtatious gleam.

“Hey handsome, do you want to join me on the howling rock?” she asked, allowing her tail to brush against his face as she moved passed.

Thor’s own eyes followed her eagerly. Not once did he take his eyes off of her. Finally, however, he climbed to the top of the howling rock with her.

“You first,” he said.

Aleu then proceeded to howl, her voice sounding like a beautiful song in Thor’s ears. Thor then howled, his howl sounding like a song to Aleu. The two then howled in unison, the sounds matching perfectly. It was a true wolf song. More accurately, it was the song of true love. Thor and Aleu looked into each other's eyes.

"Do you remember what they say about a matched howl?" Aleu asked.

Thor smiled.

"How could I? It means that we're meant for each other and that our love will last forever," he said, referring to the old pack legend.

Thor and Aleu rubbed heads and then went into their den, the one reserved for the pack alphas. Their love would eventually become the stuff of legend.
