Submissions: MLK Photography Awards December 2011

November Winner

First and foremost I would like to congratulate November's winner, Libre! The winning photo can be found here. I'll be supplying the userbar ASAP.

~

Now onto December's contest! Note the updated rule in red.

• All submitted photos must have been taken by the person submitting them.

• Photos can be of any size or type, they just cannot violate The Universal Site Rules.

• Any photo editing must consist of no more than color corrections or adjustments, cropping, rotating, and normal stuff meant to improve the image. No changes are allowed that alter it, such as adding/removing objects via photoshop, addition of text, or addition of glare or other such effects. However, applying a sepia tone, grayscale tone, monocolor filter, or other small alterations such as that are allowed.

• To submit an image to the contest, just upload, embed or link to it here in this thread. I ask that you do not embed excessively large images as this causes trouble with viewing the thread.

• Images should comply with the set theme for the month. They should also have been taken after the start date for that month's submissions.

• If a user has won the previous month's photo contest, they are still allowed to submit an image if they so choose to but will not be eligible to win (their photo will not be included in the vote).

When there is about a week left in the month, submissions will close and voting will begin. Each month will have a clearly-defined deadline.

This month:

Cars
I think I did this once before, but I don't care, we are doing it again! Photos of cars or any other transportation. Yes, this includes transportation other than cars or even non-motorized vehicles. Planes, bikes, you name it! If it moves people, it is eligible.

The deadline for this month's submissions is December 22nd at midnight, GMT-5. Voting will begin the next day on December 23rd and be open until midnight on December 31st, New Year's Eve!

I'll do this more often but I'm not a big fan of "They should also have been taken after the start date for that month's submissions." Why was this rule put in? Just wondering. :)

Since this is a competition, I put that rule in place (and in fact had that rule long ago when this contest started at first) because the whole point is to take a photo fitting of the theme to compete with, not to just find one you took beforehand. Same as in the graphics contest.

I hope computer generated images are fine. If not, then whatever. I'm not going to be able to take another picture in the next 20 minutes.
