Kung Fu Vulpine

This is a Star Fox/Kung Fu Panda spoof written back in 2008. It contains both familiar characters and lesser known ones. No bashing or flaming please.

Kung Fu Vulpine

In the gardens of the Jade Palace, James and his breathtakingly beautiful vixen of a wife, Vixy, meditated. However, in the shadows lurked Fox, Krystal, Miyu, Falco and Dash. They were setting up a mock attack. Without warning, they leapt into action. At this sound, James and Vixy jumped up and launched into fight mode. There was a quick practice match, which soon ended. Fox and his friends bowed.

“Well-done students…if you were trying to disappoint us that is,” Vixy stated.

“Fox, you need more strength. Krystal, more subtlety. Miyu, more ferocity. Falco, more height. Dash, more…” James began.

Suddenly, a voice interrupted him.

“MASTER JAMES! MASTER VIXY!” it shouted.

James turned to see a small Earthwalker wearing a dragon-tooth necklace. This was Tricky, his messenger.

“What now?” James asked.

“It’s Master Pepper. He wants to see the two of you,” Tricky replied.

With that, James and Vixy took off. As they left, Fox and his friends looked at each other.

“What do you think is going on?” Krystal asked.

“Nothing serious I hope,” Miyu replied.

“We’ll just have to wait,” Fox stated.

Meanwhile, James and Vixy ran into the portion of the Jade Palace called the Hall of Warriors, where all the great artifacts of Kung Fu were kept. They both took a deep breath and bowed.

“Master Pepper, you summoned us?” James began.

In front of the two foxes, sitting in front of a small circular pool, was Pepper, the inventor of Kung Fu. The bloodhound looked at his two students.

“Ah, James and Vixy. Thank you for coming,” he said.

“Why did you call us?” James asked.

“Do I need a reason to want to see my old friends?” Pepper replied.

“So, nothing’s wrong?” Vixy answered.

Pepper gave a slight smile.

“Well, not exactly,” Pepper said.

James and Vixy looked at each other in confusion.

“You see, I have had a vision: Wolf O’Donnell will return,” the bloodhound told them.

James and Vixy gave looks of horrified shock. A memory of Wolf’s last attack ran through James’ mind.

“That is impossible! He is in prison!” James exclaimed.

“Nothing is impossible,” Pepper reminded.

James swiftly turned around.

“Tricky!” he called out.

The Earthwalker ran to the vulpine Kung Fu master.

“Yes?” he began.

“Go to Sargasso Prison and tell them to double the guards, double the weapons, double everything! Wolf does not leave that prison!” James instructed.

“Yes, Master James!” Tricky said as he ran off to begin his mission.

Pepper chuckled.

“One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it,” the bloodhound stated.

“But Master, we can’t just let Wolf return, march on the valley, and take his revenge!” James replied.

Pepper guided his student’s gaze to a golden dragon statue on the ceiling. In the mouth was a red tube with green caps. James knew exactly what his master meant.

“The Dragon Scroll. But who is worthy enough to learn the secret of unlimited power?” James asked.

Pepper smiled.

“Your son,” he said.

Hearing this, Vixy spoke.

“Fox is to be the Dragon Warrior?” the female fox asked.

“Yes, and so, you must see to his training,” Pepper replied.

“Yes, Master,” James said in a slightly uncertain tone.

With that, James and Vixy bowed and left. They returned to their students.

“So, what’s going on?” Fox asked.

“Master Pepper had a vision that Wolf O’Donnell will return,” Vixy replied.

“WHAT?!” Fox shouted.

“You heard us,” Vixy answered.

“As well, the Dragon Warrior has been selected to combat him,” James added.

“Who has been selected?” Miyu asked.

“Fox,” James told the lynx.

“Why Fox?!” Falco exclaimed.

“Because Master Pepper made the choice, not us,” Vixy said.

“Come on, I would make an excellent Dragon Warrior,” Falco claimed as he took up his crane-style stance.

“Are you so sure of yourself?” Vixy asked.

“Yes, your bushy-tailedness,” Falco answered.

Vixy did not like this nickname one bit. She swiftly took up the stance of the praying mantis form.

“Come on. Call me something else other than ‘master’. I dare you,” she told him.

“Uh, I’d rather not,” Falco replied.

“What? Are you scared because you know you’ll lose?” she answered.

“No, it’s just that I’m not…” Falco began.

His sentence was never finished. Vixy suddenly leapt forward and kicked Falco in the stomach, knocking him down.

“And now you know why I’m the master and you’re the student,” Vixy stated.

“Mom, you’re awesome,” Fox said.

“Thank you, my son. Now, you should come with your father and me to the Great Training Hall. We have a lot of work to do before you can receive the Dragon Scroll,” Vixy replied.

Krystal gave Fox a flirty smile.

“I can’t wait to see you receive the scroll,” she told him.

Fox returned the smile.

“Thank you,” he said.

Fox then left with his parents to the training hall. A day of hard training began. The next day, the village craftsman, Beltino Toad, contacted James and Vixy, saying that his son wished to begin Kung Fu training. The next day, his son was to arrive at the Jade Palace. The Fearsome Five assembled at the command of their masters.

“Ok, students. You’ll be getting a new training partner,” James told them.

“Who?” Miyu asked.

Just then, from behind Fox and the other Kung Fu warriors, the gate opened and a loud, annoying voice called out. In utter horror, they realized who it was.

“SLIPPY!” they exclaimed in unison.

The frog was clad only in a pair of burlap shorts. He held a bag in his hand. It was in this moment that Slippy got his first look at his heroes.

“Oh! The Fearsome Five! You’re so much more exciting than your action figures! Except for you, Falcon. You’re about the same,” he said.

Falco gave him an angry glare.

After that awkward confrontation, Slippy was allowed to sit in on a training session that lasted for most of the day. By the end of that day, the team was exhausted and headed back to their individual rooms.

“What was Master James thinking?!” Miyu asked.

“It’s as if Falco wasn’t annoying enough,” Dash replied.

“Please, give him a chance. Maybe he’ll actually do well,” Krystal said.

“Yeah right. We’ve known Slippy forever. He’s never been good at anything,” Falco countered.

All the while, Slippy followed them. However, he got distracted by the swaying leaves of the sacred peach tree and didn’t enter until Fox and the others were already in their rooms. He tried to make his way into his room, but didn’t see that he had the wrong door and went straight into Fox’s room. Fox didn’t like the intrusion and looked straight at Slippy.

“What are you doing here?” Fox demanded.

“Oh, I was just going to bed,” Slippy replied.

“You have the wrong room. You don’t belong here,” Fox stated.

What ensued was a lot of bugging from Slippy, consisting primarily of very annoying questions. Fox sighed.

“Look, I’ve had a long, tiring day. I just want to go to sleep,” he said.

Finally getting the message, Slippy left. As he passed, one of the doors suddenly opened, and Slippy found himself staring into the face of a very unhappy Miyu.

“Master Lynx! I didn’t mean to disturb you!” Slippy exclaimed.

Miyu narrowed her yellow eyes.

“You don’t belong here,” she told him.

Slippy looked directly at her.

"I know. This is your room and..." Slippy began.

"I mean that you don't belong here in the Jade Palace. You're a disgrace to Kung Fu, and if you have any respect for us and what we do, you will be gone by morning," Miyu continued.

She then slammed her bedroom door shut. Slippy went on to his room, feeling the first stirrings of sadness at Miyu's statement. The next morning, James and Vixy got the Fearsome Five up as they always did. At this call, Fox, Krystal, Miyu, Falco and Dash all emerged from their rooms.

“Good morning masters!” they said in unison.

It was then that Vixy noticed that Slippy wasn’t with them.

“Where’s the frog?” she asked.

“Oh, I told him to leave,” Miyu answered.

“Miyu, you have no authority to do that,” James stated.

“But…” Miyu began.

“No buts,” James continued.

They checked Slippy’s room, but did not find him.

“He’s gone. Now we can resume our training,” Vixy said.

They all walked outside. They heard noises from the training arena. When they went to investigate, they found Slippy, performing a poor version of the tiger form. The sight was laughable.

“Slippy!” James called out.

The frog turned around.

“Good morning, Master! Just warming up a bit!” he said.

James looked at him.

“You really think you can master a single form in one night?” he said.

“Yeah!” Slippy exclaimed.

“Then we’ll see. If you can manage to beat my wife, you will have proven your words,” James stated.

“Yay!” Slippy shouted as he took up his position.

Vixy took up her position as well. However, as the little contest started, Slippy seemed more interested in showing off than in actually fighting. Finally, Vixy got tired and kicked Slippy, causing him to fly across the arena and crash through the wall. Soon, all that could be seen were his legs.

“Someone pull him out,” Vixy instructed.

Fox sighed and walked forward. With a hard yank, he pulled Slippy out.

“Thanks, Fox!” Slippy said.

“Don’t mention it,” Fox replied.

“No, really…” Slippy answered.

“Ever,” Fox emphasized.

The training went on for most of the morning. Soon, it was lunchtime.

“Anyone want to head down to Peppy’s restaurant?” Krystal asked.

Everyone agreed, and soon they were on their way down to the village. James and Vixy made them take Slippy as well. Meanwhile, James went to speak with Pepper. The bloodhound greeted his student warmly.

“So, how is your new student?” Pepper asked.

“HE’S THE MOST ANNOYING THING IN ALL OF CHINA!” James exclaimed.

Pepper chuckled.

“Impatient as always. James, he will not mature if you do not give it time,” he said.

“Master, we have no time!” James replied.

Pepper gave the vulpine a long lecture. Finally, James understood.

“I will put Falco and Miyu in charge of him,” James stated.

“That’s a start. Now, you may go,” Pepper said.

Back in the village, Fox, Krystal, Falco, Miyu, Dash and Slippy had taken their seats at the restaurant owned by Peppy Hare, an old friend of James. They were served their food by a pink-furred hare in a green robe. This was Lucy, Peppy’s daughter.

“Thank you for coming,” Lucy said.

“Tell your father that we always enjoy coming here,” Krystal replied.

“I will, Lucy answered.

“She seems happier,” Miyu said.

“Was she sad?” Slippy asked.

“Yes, for quite awhile,” Miyu replied.

“Why?” Slippy continued.

“Because of Wolf O’Donnell,” Miyu said.

“Wolf? I’ve heard you guys talking about him, and I’ve been wondering why he’s such a big deal,” Slippy told her.

Miyu sighed and began to speak.

“It all started many years ago. It had been a year since Master James and Master Vixy married. One evening, James found an abandoned wolf pup on his doorstep. James and Vixy decided to raise and train him together. Later, when Wolf was ten years old, Fox, as well as the rest of us, were born. Still later, when Fox was five and Wolf was fifteen, Krystal, Falco, Dash and I joined the Jade Palace. At first, our relationship was all right, but as time passed, Wolf became condescending and even bullying towards us. When he was twenty, his pride fed by the compliments of James and others, he became vain and arrogant, and truly thought that he would become the Dragon Warrior. However, Master Pepper saw darkness in him, and refused him the Dragon Scroll. In his rage, Wolf slaughtered the Valley. James tried to stop him, but could not destroy what his love and devotion had created. Pepper defeated Wolf, and he was sent to Sargasso Prison, where he has remained for the last twenty-five years. Lucy’s mother, Vivian, was one of the victims of Wolf’s slaughter,” she said.

“That doesn’t sound good,” Slippy commented.

“Of course it isn’t good, you idiot!” Falco exclaimed.

After they ate, they left. Suddenly, Falco stopped in his tracks.

“What?” Fox asked.

“Katt is coming. I’m going to hide in this alley. Don’t tell her about me,” Falco said as he hid.

“Dumb bird. For all he knows, Panther could be hiding there,” Miyu stated.

Just then, Katt walked up. The pink feline was the daughter of a local silk merchant, and dressed in a knee-length red silk robe. She looked at the group.

“Where’s Master Falcon?” she asked.

“He’s in this alley,” Krystal answered.

Katt went into the alley, and found her crush.

“How’s my favorite Kung Fu master today?” she asked.

“Katt, I already told you that I don’t like you,” Falco said.

What followed was screaming as Katt tried to hug him. Falco managed to get away. He glared at Krystal.

“Thanks a lot, Krystal,” he told her.

Krystal flashed the lovely, innocent smile for which she was famous.

“Any time, Falco. Any time,” she replied.

Falco sighed, and they continued on their way. Meanwhile, at Sargasso Prison, Tricky finally arrived. The commander, a chameleon called Leon, met him. With him were many ape guards. Together, they comprised a warrior group known as the Anvil of Heaven, a group devoted to fighting injustice across China. When Leon saw Tricky, he glared as Tricky gave his message.

“YOU DOUBT MY PRISON’S SECURITY?!” he shouted.

“No. Master James does. I’m just the messenger,” Tricky replied.

Leon snarled.

“Come with me. I’ll give you an answer to give your master James,” he said.

Leon then turned and walked off, Tricky in tow. As they walked into the prison, Leon saw the Earthwalker looking around.

“Impressive, isn’t it?” Leon asked.

“Yes, very,” Tricky replied.

“One way in, one way out, one thousand guards, and one prisoner,” Leon commented.

“Yes, except that prisoner is Wolf O’Donnell,” Tricky answered.

Tricky then stopped to look over a balcony. Without warning, Leon grabbed him and dangled him over the side. Tricky panicked as his necklace dropped off into the abyss. Leon laughed, and then the two continued on to a large basket elevator. They stepped in.

“Take us down,” Leon instructed the two ape guards manning the device.

The ape guards did as instructed. When they got to the bottom, they stood before a door. Leon opened it.

“Oh my,” Tricky remarked at the sight.

Before him was a captive Wolf. Wolf was imprisoned in a turtle shell-like suit of armor, with his arms chained to two massive boulders that hung over the side of the platform.

“I think I’ll just stay right here,” Tricky told Leon.

However, Leon pulled the little dinosaur forward.

“It’s perfectly safe. I’ve got him completely immobilized,” Leon remarked.

Leon then walked over to Wolf.

“Hey, tough guy, did you hear? Pepper’s finally giving someone the Dragon Scroll and it’s not going to be you,” Leon mocked.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! DON’T GET HIM MAD!” Tricky exclaimed.

“What’s he going to do?” Leon asked.

Leon then proceeded to stomp on Wolf’s tail. He did nothing.

“Aw, did I step on the little puppy’s tail?” the chameleon asked in a mocking tone.

“I’ve seen enough. I think I’ll go and tell James that he has nothing to worry about,” Tricky stated.

The dinosaur turned to walk away, but was pulled back by Leon.

“Oh no. You’re staying with us for awhile,” Leon said in a threatening manner.

Tricky submitted. Suddenly, when Leon and Tricky’s backs were turned, Wolf’s fearsome eyes flashed open. Just then, Tricky’s necklace fell on his tail. He knew that he finally had a way to get out. Meanwhile, back at the Jade Palace, the Fearsome Five and Slippy got back. James and Vixy were there to meet them. They said that they had some important announcements.

“What is it?” Krystal asked.

James took a deep breath and got ready to talk.

"First things first. I cannot afford to be watching Slippy all of the time, since I need to prepare Fox to receive the Dragon Scroll. To that end, Falco and Miyu, you will be Slippy's teachers," James said.

"YAY! MASTER FALCON! MASTER LYNX!" Slippy exclaimed.

Falco and Miyu didn't like it.

"Come on. This is Slippy!" Falco stated.

"No words," James warned.

James then looked at his and Vixy’s son.

"Fox, it is time for you to learn far more advanced techniques than what I've taught you at the moment," he stated.

"I'm ready," Fox answered.

"Good," James said.

The next morning, James got Fox up early, gave him a backpack, and, after the young reynard said goodbye to Vixy, Krystal and the others, he set off with his father to a location he had never seen before. Fox and James had been walking for a long time. Finally, Fox spoke.

“Dad, I know you’re trying to be all mystical and Kung Fu-ey, but could you at least tell me where we’re going?” he asked.

“Patience, Fox. We will be there soon,” James replied.

After more walking, they finally arrived at a small pond. Fox looked at it.

“A pond? You brought me all this way to see a pond?” he asked.

James chuckled.

“This is an important place, Fox. You see, this is where Pepper invented Kung Fu,” the older fox explained.

Fox looked at his father with wide eyes.

“I’ve only heard stories,” he stated.

James rose to his feet. Fox watched as his father launched into the air, his robe billowing in the wind. James twisted in the air and came to rest on a tall rock.

“My son, are you ready to learn the greatest secrets of Kung Fu?” James asked.

“Yes!” Fox replied.

James leapt down from the rock. He and Fox bowed to each other, and training began. Meanwhile, back at the Jade Palace, Krystal and Vixy were sparring with each other. Krystal was worried.

“Master Vixy, what if Fox is unable to defeat Wolf?” she asked.

The older vixen looked at her student.

“In the off chance that Fox is defeated, Master James and I will handle it,” she replied.

“I want to help you if that does happen,” Krystal said.

“No, Krystal. Wolf is much too powerful,” Vixy reminded.

“But…” Krystal started.

“No buts,” Vixy stated.

Krystal sighed as she continued using her snake style against Fox’s mother. All that day, practice went on. Later that evening, after a stressful day of teaching Slippy, Miyu took some time to enjoy a bowl of rice. Just as she finished, Falco came in.

“Hey,” the bird began.

Miyu rolled her eyes.

“Go away,” she told him.

“Why should I?” Falco asked.

“Because I’ve had a long day and I'm not in the mood for listening to your sarcastic comments,” Miyu replied.

“Come on, tuft-ears, I’m sure you could…” Falco began.

Miyu lashed out, inserting her chopsticks into Falco’s nostrils and pinching them shut. She then pulled Falco’s face close to hers.

“I don’t want to see you right now,” Miyu emphasized.

She then released him.

“Wow, no wonder you’re still single. You have serious anger issues,” Falco commented.

“Oh that is it!” Miyu growled as she extended her claws and prepared to smack Falco.

However, at that very moment, Slippy walked in. He attempted to stop Miyu, but tripped in front of her at the last moment. She sighed and looked at Falco.

“You got lucky tonight, Falco. But don’t expect Slippy to save you every single time,” Miyu said.

The lynx then turned to walk away. Falco watched her. He felt something.

“Oh no…am I falling for her?!” Falco asked himself.

Indeed he was. Falco decided that he would need to resolve this as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, late in the evening, James and Fox arrived.

“You did well, my son,” James said.

“Did well? I did awesome!” Fox exclaimed.

“The mark of a true warrior is humility, but yes, you have done awesome,” James replied.

Father and son shared a chuckle. Then, as they came up to the palace entrance, they met Miyu. When the feline saw them, she walked over.

“Master James, I’ve had it with Slippy! I quit teaching him!” she shouted.

“What’s wrong, Miyu?” James asked.

“I can’t take his clumsiness and voice!” Miyu replied.

“I’m sorry. I promised Master Pepper that you would,” James continued.

“WHY?!” Miyu said.

James sighed.

“Fox, get washed up and go to bed. I’m going to try and fix this,” James told his son.

Fox ran to do as he was told. As he was lying down, Falco entered.

“Falco, I would expect you of all people to know where your own room is,” Fox said sarcastically.

“Fox, this is different. I need advice,” Falco replied.

“Well, I’ve been practicing all day, but I’m always ready to help,” Fox answered.
Falco sighed.

“I’ve fallen in love with Miyu, and I need to know how to tell her,” Falco told him.

“YOU AND MIYU?! THAT’S A GOOD ONE!!!” Fox laughed aloud.

“Fox, I’m serious!” Falco shouted.

“Fine, after I have my date with Krystal at Lotus Lake, I’ll give it to you, all right?” Fox said.

“Fine,” Falco replied as he left.

Fox fell asleep. In her room, Miyu was struggling with her own feelings. Not the ones against Slippy, but the ones for Falco.

“I don’t like him!” she said aloud.

However, the voice inside her head was telling her to pursue Falco. She fell asleep, wondering how she was going to do it. The next day, after practice, Fox and Krystal headed out to Lotus Lake, the Valley of Calm’s romantic destination.

“So, how was your trip yesterday?” Krystal asked.

Fox sighed.

“Well, I practiced advanced Kung Fu techniques,” he replied.

Fox explained everything, and they spent most of the days together. When they returned, Fox prepared to speak with Falco.

"So, Fox, how do I speak with Miyu?" Falco asked.

Fox smiled.

"Well, first, you need to approach her when she's not ticked off," Fox began.

"And then?" Falco continued.

Fox smiled once more, the idea of Miyu and Falco together making him laugh inside. He also hoped it worked out. He continued talking. By the time the soon-to-be Dragon Warrior was done, Falco felt quite ready. That night, he went to Miyu and knocked on her door. When she opened it, her tufted ears were back, indicating her displeasure at this intrusion.

"What do you want, Falco?" she asked.

"Miyu, I need to talk to you," Falco answered.

"Really? The arrogant master of the crane style actually has something meaningful to discuss with me?" Miyu replied sarcastically.

"Yes," Falco stated.

Miyu sighed, allowing her ears to come back up.

"Fine, but make it quick," she told him.

Falco entered the room and closed the door.

“So, birdie, what’s going on?” Miyu asked.

Falco decided that he would just say it.

“Miyu Lynx, I’m in love with you,” he told her.

“What was that?” Miyu replied.

“You heard me. I’ve fallen in love with you,” Falco stated.

Miyu took a step back and sighed.

“You really expect me to just start going out with you because of some infatuation?” Miyu continued.

“It’s not just infatuation,” Falco said.

“And how do I know this isn’t one of your attempts to outdo Fox?” Miyu replied.

“What do you mean?” Falco answered.

“You know full well what I mean. You’re trying to hook me so you can compete with Fox in who has the better girlfriend,” Miyu told him.

The argument continued. As it raged, Miyu realized that she couldn’t keep it up much longer. Her newfound feelings for Falco were getting stronger. It was time to just say it.

“You know what, Falco? I’m in love with you too,” she said.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Fox and Dash were listening to the conversation as Falco and Miyu confirmed how they felt.

“What just happened?” Dash asked.

“From the sound of it, she just told him how she felt about him,” Fox replied.

Just as Dash was about to answer, they heard a familiar voice behind them.

“What’s going on here?”

Fox and Dash turned to see Krystal standing there.

“Uh, we’re just listening to Falco and Miyu,” Dash told her.

“That’s not polite,” the vixen replied.

“Come on, Krystal. I want to see what happens with them,” Fox stated.

“Fox, that’s their business. I mean, he and Dash didn’t spy on us when we admitted our feelings for each other,” Krystal replied.

“Uh, well, that’s not exactly true,” Dash commented.

“What was that?” Fox asked.

“Falco and I listened in for awhile before Miyu dragged us away,” the monkey replied.

“You didn’t hear anything major, did you?” Fox answered.

“I believe you referred to Krystal as your ’blue lotus flower’,” Dash snickered.

“WHY YOU LITTLE!!!” Fox shouted as he began to chase Dash down the hall.

Vixy heard the shouts and went to investigate.

“What’s going on?” she demanded.

Fox told the whole story.

“This is no way for the Dragon Warrior to behave!” Vixy stated.

“Mom, I’m not the Dragon Warrior!” Fox replied.

“Fox, how dare you talk that way?! Master Pepper has picked you for this great honor. You cannot get out of this,” Vixy informed him.

Seeing that this conversation would probably go on for a long time, Dash slipped away. Fox looked back at his mother.

“Mom, I don’t think I can do it,” Fox told her.

“You will do it, my son,” Vixy said.

Little did she know, however, how true her words would be. Back at Sargasso Prison, Wolf was busy. With his tail, he manipulated Tricky’s necklace and inserted the tooth into a crack on the top of the turtle shell restraint. With repeated tail slaps, it went further and further, causing the jade needles that disrupted his energy flow to shoot out in all directions. Finally, Wolf shattered the armor. Hearing the sound, Leon and Tricky rushed to the balcony.

“OH NO!” Leon exclaimed.

“What’s happening?!” Tricky echoed.

The ape guards leapt into action.

“Fire crossbows!” Leon ordered.

The guards did as instructed. However, Wolf moved slightly, causing the arrow to destroy one of his chains. Wolf snarled and broke off the other one. Tricky went into a full panic.

“Wolf is free! I must warn Master James!” he shouted.

“You’re not going anywhere and neither is he!” Leon replied.

The chameleon then began shouting orders as Wolf leapt into the air, using the fired arrows as steps. Finally, he made it to the top, engaging the ape guards along the way as he did so.

“We’re dead, so very dead!” Tricky complained.

“Not yet, we’re not!” Leon announced.

The lizard then ordered boulders from the ceiling of the cave from which the prison was built to be dropped, destroying the various pathways leading to the exit. Alas, this failed as well. In desperation, Leon ordered an explosive boulder to be dropped, but this also failed. Wolf merely used this to his own advantage. Finally, Leon’s courage faltered.

“Can we run now?” Tricky asked.

“Yes,” Leon answered in a nervous tone.

However, they never got a chance, Wolf tossed the boulder, and there was a huge explosion. Leon and all the guards died in the blast. Only Tricky and Wolf survived. Tricky found himself pushed back into the snow outside. From the smoking ruins of the door walked Wolf. He wore no shirt, and wore only black training pants and a black leather belt with little metal studs on it. He eyed the little dinosaur and picked him up.

“I’m glad James sent you. I was beginning to think I had been forgotten,” Wolf said.

Tricky stuttered in fear.

“Go back and tell him that the real Dragon Warrior is coming home,” Wolf instructed.

Wolf then released him. Tricky began his return to the Jade Palace. For a long time, he traveled until he finally returned home. James was meditating in the training room when he heard the footsteps.

“Inner peace, inner peace, inn…Will whoever is making that racket please quit it?!” he said.

It was then that Tricky arrived. James smiled happily.

“Tricky, nice to see you. I could use some good news right now,” James said.

Tricky then spoke.

“THERE IS NO GOOD NEWS! WOLF HAS ESCAPED AND IS ON HIS WAY RIGHT NOW!”

James was horrified. He knew that at this time, Master Pepper often meditated under the sacred peach tree. He headed there now.

“Master! Your vision came true! Wolf has escaped!” James announced.

Pepper turned his gaze onto his student, ready to speak.

"Yes, and my time has now come. James McCloud, my faithful student, you are now in charge," Pepper stated.

"Huh?" James asked.

Before his very eyes, Master Pepper, the inventor of Kung Fu, passed away in the midst of many peach petals. James was now alone. He was also in charge, and it was now time for him to tell the others. Everyone was eating dinner as James came running in. Vixy took notice of the fact that he was panting and out of breath.

“What is it?” she asked.

James sighed.

“Everyone, Wolf has escaped,” he announced.

They all gasped.

“How?” Miyu asked.

James told the whole story, then looked at Fox.

“Fox, it’s time,” James began.

“Time for what?” Fox asked.

“You know. It’s time for you to become the Dragon Warrior and defeat our enemy,” James replied.

“But Dad, I’m not ready. Master Pepper can do it. I mean, he did it before , right?” Fox answered.

James looked at his son.

“Pepper cannot. Not now,” James stated.

“OH NO! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!” Slippy exclaimed

Everyone ignored him and gasped at James as he explained what happened to Master Pepper. After some convincing, Fox decided that there was no getting out of being the Dragon Warrior. He followed everyone to the Hall of Warriors, where James began the ritual that would bring down the Dragon Scroll to him. Soon, the tube was in his hands. He brought it to Fox, who took it.

“Read it, my son, and fulfill your destiny,” James instructed.

Fox opened the tube and removed the scroll. He opened it. His ears went down.

“It’s blank!!!” he announced.

“Blank?” James inquired.

“Yeah, Dad, look,” Fox said.

James turned away.

“No! I am forbidden!” he stated.

However, this did not last. James turned back and snatched the scroll, examining it. He was sad.

“What now?” Miyu asked.

James sighed.

“We’re going to have to do our best. Krystal, I want you to stay here and watch for Wolf. Vixy and I will be in the next room. Fox, you’ll come in if this plan fails,” James said.

Just then, Fox looked at the scroll’s reflective surface one more time. In that instant, he had a burst of realization.

“Dad! I know what the blank surface means!” Fox said proudly.

“What?” James asked.

“The power is within the person,” Fox answered.

“Well-done, my son. You are now the Dragon Warrior,” James stated.

They then left the Hall of Warriors, with Krystal staying behind. Meanwhile, in the hills surrounding the valley, Wolf finally arrived. He looked down at the village, then up at the moon. In anticipation of his coming victory over James, Vixy and the Fearsome Five, he issued a long, loud howl. He then continued on his path down to the village itself. As he was walking, a black wild cat carrying a torch stopped him. It was none other than Panther, the village’s resident street thug. He was very arrogant, and, for whatever reason, was unaware of the dangers of messing with Wolf.

“Panther will now take everything you have on you,” the feline began.

Wolf simply snarled, grabbed Panther by his neck and tossed him. He landed on a fireworks cart. The explosives ignited from Panther’s torch, exploding and killing him. Wolf then walked on as if nothing had happened. He soon came to Peppy’s restaurant, where the old hare recognized him instantly.

“Wolf O’Donnell?! How did you escape from prison?!” Peppy began.

“That is my own affair. Now, I need to go to the Jade Palace. Is James McCloud still alive?” Wolf asked.

“I will not aid the man responsible for my wife’s death,” Peppy replied.

“That was her fault. She stood in my path. Now, tell me about James McCloud!” Wolf growled.

“No!” Peppy shouted.

Wolf turned in frustration. He then saw Lucy. Becoming somewhat attracted to her, he went over.

“Why don’t you join me on my journey to the Jade Palace?” he said.

“Yeah, if you haven’t noticed, I have a table to take food to,” she replied.

“Then do so. Then return to me,” Wolf snarled.

Lucy sighed and walked away. Wolf headed towards the door. Lucy then grabbed an empty teapot from the table she had been serving and hurled it at Wolf. However, he was already out the door, and it hit the wall and shattered. Lucy noticed Peppy glaring at her.

“Sorry Dad. I’ll clean that up right away,” she said.

Wolf made his way up the Jade Palace steps into the Hall of Warriors. However, he did not find the Dragon Warrior, but Krystal.

“Where is the Dragon Warrior?!” Wolf demanded.

“How do you know you’re not looking at her?” Krystal retorted.

Wolf scoffed.

“Do you think I’m a fool? You are not the Dragon Warrior, Krystal. Now, where is he?” Wolf continued.

“Oh, you mean Fox? He’s here,” Krystal replied.

“Then call him,” Wolf instructed.

Krystal merely took up her snake stance and leapt into action. Wolf fought her for quite awhile, but proved to be the more powerful opponent. He grabbed Krystal by her neck and held her to his face.

“James taught you well, but he didn’t teach you everything,” Wolf stated.

The lupine then proceeded to toss the lovely vixen into the pillars of the room. She issued a loud, pained groan. James and Vixy heard the sound and rushed over. Vixy took Krystal and led her away. James faced Wolf.

“I am home, Master,” Wolf began.

“This is not your home, and I am not your master,” James replied.

“Yes. I know that you have chosen another Dragon Warrior,” Wolf told him.

“If you’re here about the scroll, it’s gone with Fox,” James stated.

“WHY?! YOU KNEW THE SCROLL WAS MINE! BUT WHEN PEPPER MADE HIS CHOICE, WHAT DID YOU DO? NOTHING!” Wolf roared.

“That was not my choice!” James countered.

“NOT YOUR CHOICE?! NOT YOUR CHOICE?! WHO WAS THE ONE WHO HAD ME PRACTICE UNTIL MY BONES ACHED?! WHO FILLED MY HEAD WITH DREAMS?! I WORKED HARD TO MAKE YOU PROUD! TELL ME HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF ME!” Wolf demanded.

“I have always been proud of you, but my mistake was to become blind to what you were becoming, what I was turning you into. But, believe me when I say that you were never meant to be the Dragon Warrior,” James stated.

This was the statement that enraged Wolf the most. He leapt into action, as did James. Their fight was swift and brutal, and only ended when Wolf used a special nerve attack on James’ knees. The Kung Fu master fell to the ground, yelping as he landed. This sound brought Fox in. Wolf glared at him.

“Fox McCloud, the Dragon Warrior,” he said.

“Yes, and I’m going to beat you with this,” Fox taunted as he held up the scroll.

Wolf attacked immediately, and a massive battle ensued. This fight spilled into the village itself. They leapt from buildings, kicked, jumped and more. It eventually created a huge crater in the ground. Fox knocked Wolf back. He got up.

“You can’t beat me! You’re just a green-eyed pup!” Wolf said.

As Wolf came over to attack again, Fox grabbed his finger.

“I’m not a green-eyed pup, I’m the green-eyed pup!” Fox said as he picked up his pinky.

Wolf panicked.

“No! Not the Wuxi finger hold! James didn’t teach you that!” Wolf exclaimed.

“Nope, I figured it out on my own,” Fox said with a sly grin.

Wolf became more afraid.

“Skadoosh!” Fox exclaimed as he flexed his pinky.

Wolf was then obliterated in a brilliant golden flash. Immediately afterward, the villagers, and later his friends and family, declared Fox a true master of Kung Fu. That was one of Fox’s happiest days. He was very hopeful for the future.
