Another in my series of RP-based Balto stories. No bashing or flaming please.

Steele’s Lie
Steele walked back towards Nome with his gang, his haughty eyes filled with pride. Today, he thought, he had finally defeated Balto and Jenna’s grandson Hammy. Now, he would return to Balto, Jenna and Hammy’s parents, Kodi and Dusty, and tell them that he was dead. However, he would claim innocence and say that he had nothing to do with the young dog’s death. Finally, he arrived. Balto and Jenna snarled at their enemy.
“What do you want, Steele?” Balto said.
Steele sighed in a display of mock-sympathy.
“It is with a heavy heart that I report young Hammy’s untimely death,” he said.
Balto, Jenna, Kodi and Dusty’s eyes went from anger to sadness.
“My grandson…” Jenna managed to say.
Outside, Hammy’s loyal teammates could see and hear everything. They began to mourn their friend. However, what happened next shocked everyone.
“You better check your facts, Steele. You tried to get me killed!” a male voice said.
Everyone turned to see Hammy, who was still very much alive. Steele controlled his shock.
“How did you survive?!” he said, thus revealing that his statements were a lie.
Jenna rushed forward in a rage.
“YOU LIAR!” she said.
“Jenna, please…” he said.
Jenna ignored him and then proceeded to bite down hard on Steele’s nose. The Malamute whined in pain before Jenna finally let go. Balto stepped forward.
“Go, Steele. Go away and never return!” he ordered.
Steele snarled.
“As you wish…HALF-BREED!” he shouted as he left.
Balto took several deep breaths to calm his rage before turning to his grandson.
“Hammy, what happened?” he asked.
Hammy sighed.
“I was taking a walk on the outskirts of town and he and his gang came out of the blue and started attacking me. After a while, I dropped to the ground and played dead. They left after that,” he said.
Jenna looked towards the door where Steele had left.
“Be wary, Steele, for your time of reckoning is near,” she said in a menacing tone.
The other dogs nodded in agreement.
