A Whole New World: Sonic and Sally’s Tale


It had been three days since the wedding of Prince Mufasa "Sonic" the Hedgehog and Princess Sally Alicia Acorn. Sally was now in the process of learning about the culture and customs of her new home, the Kingdom of Hedgehog. It was so different from her former life in the Kingdom of Acorn: the food used exotic spices and flavorings that she had never heard of before. The style of clothing worn on ceremonial occasions was different. Nearly everything, with the exception of a few shared holidays, was different. The lovely, blue-eyed, red-haired squirrmunk sighed as she looked out over the vast city of Knothole from one of the palace balconies. Just then, Sonic, having heard her, went to her.

“Sal?” he began.

Sally turned around, the sight of her new husband bringing joy to her.

“Hello, my handsome prince,” she said.

“Hello, my beautiful princess,” Sonic replied.

They shared a kiss.

“So, what’s going on?” Sonic asked.

Sally turned back to the balcony railing.

“I guess I’m just experiencing a bit of homesickness,” she said.

Sonic smiled.

“Anything I can do to help?” he asked with a cocky grin.

Sally shook her head. Sonic joined her at the railing.

“Come on, Sal. Look at this city. It’s a whole new world,” he said.

“What?” Sally asked.

“It’s a whole new world…for you anyway,” Sonic replied.

Sally looked again at the city.

“Yes. Shining, shimmering, splendid,” she stated.

Sonic smiled a cocky smile.

“Yes, splendid. Just like me,” he said with a small laugh.

“What am I going to do with you?” she asked in playful reply.

Before Sonic could answer, the call for dinner rang out. Sonic and Sally went, promising to meet again on the balcony tonight. Once dinner was over and night had fallen, they did so. Together, they looked up at the magnificent, star-studded sky. It resembled a sheet of black velvet studded with tiny diamonds. Sonic and Sally smiled at each other.

“A whole new world…” Sonic said.

“A whole new world…” Sally repeated.

“That’s where we’ll be…” Sonic said.

“That’s where we’ll be…” Sally repeated.

“A thrilling chase…” Sonic said.

“A wondrous place…” Sally said in reply.

“For you and me…” they said in unison.

Sonic, the future king, and Sally, his future queen, then shared a kiss. It was a happy moment.
