Assassins Creed: War of 1812 [Closed to Kopalover]

Postby Baya » March 25th, 2013, 3:20 am

~June 25, 1812~

The ringing of bells could be heard all around the docks of Upper Canada as the rolling fog was pushed aside by massive ships. They brought cargo such as supplies, letters and more than frequently, new settlers. The extension of the British empire had seen many years of peace, despite the senseless warfare between the French and English settlers.

Upon one of the docking ships was a man dressed in traditional British attire. Robert Lucien was leaning against the crow's nest of the massive ship that had carried him from London, Great Britain to Upper Canada. Word had gotten out that the Templars have gotten a man into power in America, and that he was after something in Upper Canada. Oddly enough, there had been rumors floating around that the United States was going to war with Upper Canada over territory. There was something in Upper Canada that the Templars in New America needed, but Robert wasn't about to let them have it.

A bell was rung from the crows nest as one of the crew began to holler "Land ho! Land ho!"

Robert dropped his rather large bag of belongings and took a strand of his black hair from his fair face. His blue eyes fixed on the crow's nest as he began to climb it with great ease. Gripping onto anything he could, he quickly made his way onto the small deck of the crows nest and gazed out at the massive docks the ship was approaching. He'd heard that Quebec had more French settlers than anything else, but there was surely someone who spoke English. He needed to get to York to speak with a few known contacts regarding the Templars' presence in the New World.

The ship began to shake as it slowly began to ease itself into a dock space. The crew was scrambling to throw the ropes down to anchor the ship to the docks. After a few minutes, all the procedures were done and the captain stood at the front of the boat. "We have arrived at Lower Canada! Please gather your belongings, do not forget any articles of clothing and please thank this marvelous crew for their hard work! Good day!"

Robert quickly climbed down from the crow's nest and picked up the bag he had set down. "Hold on sir, Lower Canada? How do I get into Upper Canada?" Robert asked with a slight frown, realizing he might be in the wrong place. The captain turned from where he was standing and walked over to Robert.

"Plenty o' ways to get to Upper Canada boy. All you have to do is have the coin. I recommend going by horse back...the natives around these parts might also take you on the Lawrence River to get there. Either way, it ain't a long trip." the captain explained.

"Thank you." Robert said with a smile and a nod of his head. As the crew was line up, Robert bid each of them thank you and made his way down the plank onto the weathered docks. He took a deep breath of the sea air and looked at the prospering city before him.

He began to make his way through the town, his bag over his broad shoulders. He was sporting a pair of brown pants, black boots and a brown vest with a white long sleeve shirt under it. His cuffs were a bit weathered from the trip, but he took good care when washing his clothes on the trip. Robert could not understand much of the French that people around him were speaking as he made his way through the town, but he did recognize some English here and there. He figured the best place to get information was the tavern, which was easy to spot by the passed out patrons outside of it.

He made his way inside a tavern, slowly peeking around, in case there were any immediate dangers. Paranoia came with his line of work. He could hear singing, cheering and yelling, so clearly it was a good time. The odd part was that it was still day, and much of them should be working. He didn't care to point it out, because the last thing he wanted was attention in this new and unknown place. Robert made his way to the bar keep.

"Good day to you sir, I was wondering if you could perhaps provide me with some information?" Robert asked. The bar keep was a tubby old man whom was balding from the top down. His brown eyes met with Roberts as he stopped cleaning his glass and he snorted.

"Not for an English pig. Either buy something or get out." The man said in a heavy french accent. Robert could tell getting to Upper Canada was going to be both a relief and a chore. Robert sighed as he reached into his pocket to pull out some money.

"Well...have you any ale?"

"It's a bar you idiot. Of course we have ale." The man scoffed as he filled one of the dirtier glasses with ale and placed it on the table. Robert paid the coin directly to his hand and began to drink. He looked around at the bar, trying to at least find some English speakers that might not be as hostile as the bar keep. He spotted a young woman being harassed by some of the other patrons from where he stood, and judging by her look of frustration, it was not a two way pleasure.

"Oh come on little baby. How about getting a taste of some French culture, eh? I'm sure they do not know how to express love in Britain. I will show you hehehe." one of the courting men said, a french accent and slurring words following from what he said. Robert made his way over and placed a hand on one of the men gathered around the woman.

"I'm sorry good fellow, but she does not look amused with your advances. I advise that you step back and make your way back to your table." Robert said sternly. The three men gathered there began to laugh. The one who had made the lude comment pushed Robert's hand off before giving him a shove.

"Heh. I thought white knights were extinct eh? What did the Queen kiss your behind and bid you to come here to act like a hero? Eh? Hahaha!"

"Well, if by the Queen you mean your mother." Robert said with a shrug and a grin. This was now just for his personal amusement. The French man stopped laughing and began to curse at him in French. He threw a punch only to have his arm twisted. Robert then shot him a hit to the stomach, sending him to the floor. Some of the other french patrons stood, and growled.

They began to come at him, one after another. Some of them were sober, and some of them not so much. Robert parried much of their blows, taking only a few to the chest and stomach. After having dealt with them in a very swift manner he bowed his head to the horrified bar keep and looked to the woman. "Well then. That was an unfortunate outcome, now wasn't it? Now, they said you were British so I was wondering if you would know where I would get some sort of transportation to Upper Canada?" Robert asked her with a small smile.

The young woman swiped her orange locks out of her eyes and looked to Robert. Her electric green eyes stared into his, she smiled almost sarcastically. "I'm not British. Stupid drunks got their accents wrong. I'm Irish." She chuckled under her breath and looked down, staring at his clothes. Not only did she notice the certain attire of an assassin, she could also tell by the dirty way he fought. "I'll take ya' there. Only if you tell me why." Spitting into a nearby glass, and fixing the corset she wore around her waist. By the looks of her, she seemed classy but a closer look, she was far from it.

"I ain't being hung because ya' had unfinished business with a Canadian." Again, chuckling under her breath and shaking her head. "I got horses. Only a few, so it best just be you." Raising her eyebrows at the man she barley knew. Yet, somehow she did know him. A hidden assassin, by the looks of his choice of clothes and the dirty way he fought. Yet, she'd keep it a secret for now, as she also had her own set of hidden blades and dead bodies.

"T'Names Victoria. Ya' can call me whatever you'd like." Victoria said, sitting in the chair behind her, and staring up at Robert. "Where exactly will ya' be headed? I can take you anywhere, even across the damn ocean if ya' please." Her voice rung throw the glasses on the table made from a dead oak, her long fingers painted with red reached for the cleanest glass of Vodka and she took a sip.

"What's ya' name, sweetheart?" Tipping her glass towards Robert and smiling, a smile like hers could track in millions of men from across the globe. Her red lipstick made her white teeth stand out perfectly, and the highlighted freckles on her face made her impossible to look away from. The perfect Irish girl.

When she began to speak, it was clear she was not of English descent. Though that did not make her any less beautiful. When she offered him her horses, he could already feel his hopes of getting to work soon brightening once more. When she told him her name, he found it quite ironic. Victoria was quite the English name and it was bestowed upon her. Regardless of her name, Robert could not pinpoint what was off about her. Being an assassin meant always being on your toes. He'd be weary to trust her with his full name. "My name? Oh. My name is Robert. I've come recently from England on business. A friend of mine wanted me to get to York in order to speak with a...family member of his." he explained quietly.

Alot of the French settlers around them groaned as they began to come out of their daze. Robert raised an eyebrow then looked back to Victoria. "Sorry to cut your drink short, but perhaps I will buy one for you later. Right now, I would really appreciate the both of us leaving the scene of this...brawl. Last thing I need is to be taken in by the authorities only minutes after I've arrived." Robert pointed out as he turned to the old bar tender.

"Sorry about the trouble sir." Robert said with a smile as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bag of coin. "Keep quiet about this would you?" Robert asked as he threw the Frenchman the sack of coin.

"Just get out of here!" The owner snarled. "And take that trouble maker with you!"

Robert looked over to Victoria and grinned. "You are a trouble maker? What, have I met the most interesting woman in this side of the world already?" Robert asked playfully as he offered his hand to her, to help stand her up.

"Come now. We best get going."

Victoria laughed at the side comments from Robert and the Bartender. "You're only saying that because you wish your Mrs looked I do! And you Robert, haven't seen even a wee bit of what this kitty can do!" Winking at Robert then grabbing his hand. "Such a gentleman, I like you already!" She used his hand to help herself up, and thanked him soon after. She stepped around him and much to her delight, she had noticed the familiar wrist bands of the hidden blade. Though, she would keep it a secret until well out of earshot of any high authorities lounging around the bar.

"Shall we?" Questioning Robert, and stepping over the bruised bodies of the unconscious men. "What a mess you made here Robert. Only a small group of men I know can do that much damage in that little of time!" Her voice dimmed as the door of the bar was opened by her petite hands, she dropped a small hint of her intelligence of him.

"So, your 'friend'." Asking the instant she was on the streets and heading towards her horses. "Must be a rich man for living in York?" Leading the conversation on, so she wouldn't arouse any of his suspicions. "And you as well, giving the bartender much coin soon after arriving from England?" Victoria asked, keeping her eyes in front of them.

Robert walked with her outside, acknowledging her compliment with a chuckle. He held his bag over his shoulder as the two of them walked towards a stable nearby. "My friend, as far as I know, had quite some coin to his name yes. I'm not too sure about the man I'm meeting in York, but signs point to yes. As for me? Well, my father was wealthy, but when he passed the wealth was seized by the crown." he murmured quietly. It happened when he was but a boy, but John had saved him from the raid on his home. It was unknown how they realized the Lucien family were assassins, but when the Templars found out they were sure to inform the crown.

Once at the horses, Robert picked himself out an auburn colored one before jumping onto the saddle hoisted on it. He tied his belongings securely on it as well. "Strong mare. You clearly take good care of them. Should I really be so lucky to have met a lady of all trades?" Robert asked with a chuckle as he gently stroked the horse's head. As he sat there, he could already tell this lady was definitely not like the locals. He knew better than to provide her with too much information and to get attached. If he had to kill her for being a Templar or being associated with them, he'd only hurt himself when he did it. He'd hoped it didn't come to that.

Victoria chuckled at Robert, and went behind a corner to change into a different attire. A white cloak the classic assassins wear, with a red and purple belt tied around her waist. Each layer of fabric held another weapon, whether it be guns or blades. Her boots were a dark brown and climbed her leg up to her knees. She hid her blades with the fabric of her sleeves. She did not wear the hood with the beak, but kept it off as Robert would pick up too easily.

She waltzed around the corner and towards a white horse with brown legs, though a stallion not a mare. "Watch out with her, she's nervous. Be careful." She raised her eyebrows and nodded at Robert, then preparing her horse. "It's a long way there, not as long as a boat ride but the landscape is a million times better than the ocean." Giggling, then mounting her horse.

"Ready to go?"

When she went out of sight for a moment, he tensed up, not feeling very secure. When she showed up again he noticed she had quickly changed her attire. She wore the clothing of an assassin, and he could see a hood hanging behind. He raised an eyebrow finally realizing whom he was speaking with. She was an assassin, just like him. If so, she also knew why he was going to York. The contact was part of the order of Assassins.

He clicked his heels against the sides of the horse and it began to walk. Robert looked over his shoulder at the bar where several authorities were gathering outside of. He looked back over to Victoria. "I hope you know how to make a speedy escape. I think we've been tipped off." Robert said quietly as he clicked his heels, urging the horse to trot faster. The sooner they got out of Lower Canada the better. He needed information regarding the entire situation with America and fast. Somewhere along the way he would have to change into his own assassin attire.

As the two rode out of the town, Robert could see the sun beginning to set. "So much colder than England around these parts..." Robert murmured. Even though it was spring, it was moderately cooler than the weather back home. Of course he didn't really care, he just wanted to spark up some conversation.

Victoria also felt the cold brush up against her, but didn't notice until he had pointed it out. "You get used to it. Might've wanted to wear a warmer cloak, it gets cold in York." She said overt the sound of horses hooves and the distance sound of people. "I grabbed extra blankets, if we get any sort of sleep out there. Lord only knows what, or who, is watching us." Her eyes glided over the surrounding brush, pin pointing movement or irregular signs.

"Robert, Robert." She toyed with her tongue, looking at his face as-well. "Last name? If you're not keeping it a secret." Asking hard and raising her eyebrows. Given that he had not told her, his last name. He was most likely attempting to be secretive, in-case she was not an assassin and she simply sold his name to the Templar's. Robert had been lucky to had run into her instead of the many female Templars sent to seduce the assassins and killing them in the process.

"Do you have anything else you could wear? It tends to snow during the oddest times in Canada, and I can't have you freezing during the nights." Eyeing the bags he had attached to her horse, it bulged with things unknown to her. "Night won't come for another little while, so do as you please, but tell me first. Would ya'?" She joked, keeping her smile. Little dimples formed in her cheeks, and her eyes seemed to glow as well.

"I'd prefer to keep it so. I don't find that you can trust anyone from a few exchanged words. Though it is not personal, I assure you." he said quietly as the two of them were leaving the gates for the particular little town they were in. The path way was clear, and many travelers could be seen from quite a far ways making their way towards the town. As the two of them rode through the path, they got to a small forest that was filled with wild life and beautiful maple trees.

Robert however, did not look so amused. He looked slightly over his shoulder, not turning his head much. "We've got company..." Robert murmured. Behind them was several men in simple villager clothing. However, they traveled in a rather large group which was beyond strange. Sure enough, one of them road ahead and stopped his horse. Robert pulled the reigns on his own horse, making it holler and grind to a halt.

"Hello friend. What seems to be the trouble?" Robert asked quietly with a bow of his head and a small smile.

"I really don't want to make this harder boy. Get off the horse. Now." The villager said as he pulled out a musket, aiming it at Robert. The other villagers got off their horses and aimed their muskets at Victoria. Robert slowly got off the horse and raised his arms.

"May I ask why you are brandishing a musket? If it is wealth you are after I can -"

"No. We know what you did in Britain you smug little brat. Killed an MP that just so happened to belong to our order. We are not playing games boy, or did your master refuse to teach you that?"

Robert sighed as his fears had been realized. They were all agents of the Templar order. "I did not know the Templars had a base in Upper Canada. Seems odd after being thwarted by Connor Kenway in America." The villager growled and smacked Robert across the face with the base of his musket.

"You shut your mouth! Where we Templars move to save the world, you set us back and hinder it! No, we are going to do this with -"

Before the villager could finish his sentence, Robert quickly moved in and brandished his hidden blade. He made a quick slice at the throat of the supposed leader, and then reached into his pocket for a small orb. He threw it on the ground in front of the other Templars. Black smoke rose after the bomb exploded, leaving a dense smog.

"Come on. Let's go!" Robert said as he jumped on the horse and clicked his heels on its sides. As he rode, he wiped the blood off his mouth and looked over to Victoria.

"They didn't hurt you, did they? No gun shots?" Robert asked, concern evident in his tone. The Templars were in the New World still, despite being thwarted. It made sense that he was told to come to Upper Canada. Old man John knew that this was happening, but he saved the details. Robert never had a doubt in his mind that it involved the Templars.
