Money owns this town (PRIVATE FOR REDKITE AND SCARSMATE)

They sprint across the plains, reaching the otherside quickly. Ryder turns back to Matias now they were safe and grins. Giovanni looks back at the dragon, then at River.

"Nice one." He mutters, still looking to the forest for Hatari. 'Damn it, Hatari, where are you?' He thinks.

The dragon landed gently by her, leaning toward her. She reached out a hand, rubbing in between its eyes, a low rumble of appreciation being emitted. She pulled away, thanked it and bowed. It returned the gesture, inclining his head, before disappearing back into the sky.

Hatari appears on the outskirts of the sand banks. His green eyes glowing. Giovanni scowls as he makes his way over.

"What the h*ll, Hatari!?" He yells.

Xavier let out a low whistle.

'I'm watching this.' He whispered, leaning forward to River's ear. She managed- well, not completely- to suppress a smile.

Hatari raises an eyebrow. He snorts.

"seriously?" Giovanni continues.

"Hmph..." Hatari grunts, "I thought you were happy enough..." He growls.

"Just don't do it again, ok!?" Giovanni finishes, sighing heavily.

Matias trod over to River, weaving in and out of her legs like a cat would. She would have rolled her eyes if she wasn't so on edge- she had threatened to kill Hatari, so that made things awkward. Some how, though, she felt safer; Xavier was still exceptionally close to her, so close she could feel his breath on her shoulder. She shivered involuntarily, which prompted a laugh from Xavier.

'Cold?' He teased.

As the duo walk back over, Hatari grins when he sees how uncomfortable River looks. Giovanni gives him a sharp elbow in the chest before sighing again, through gritted teeth.

The burn mark on Hatari's face had almost healed already, but a long dark red scar stains his skin.

Xavier tapped her shoulder, a cheeky grin in his face.

'For the record,' he murmured into her ear,' I think your dragons are much more useful and attractive than old lizard face.' That was it for River. She burst out into fit of laughter, doubling over. Xavier was laughing too, rubbing his face in surprise; he hadn't expected such a positive reaction. She gasped for breath, finally straightening up, with her lips trembling with the effort to keep them neutral.

Hatari snorts at the comment and scowls at the emerald dragons in the sky. His species, the acheterra's had been at war with the dragons for eons, and, although only a young adult acheterra, Hatari knew he despised them too.

The dragon, almost as if it heard his thoughts, shot a warning flame out of its nose. River smiled.

You learn fast, Araba, she told it, noting it's name. It did a loop-the-loop, before soaring out of sight. Xavier gave it an old-fashioned salute, and Matias howled it away.
