Bambi noticed the body which lay by the river and recognised Faline. But there was no weakness in the fire around them. Bambi then turned around and ran towards where they came from, he would look for another way to the river from there

The old stag looked at Bambi and said, "We will all die Great Prince f you do not find a way to save us all." He tried to get Bambi to jump through the fire even if that burnt him. "You must not feel any pain." Before he did however he slipped Faline on Bambi's back. "I will be right behind you."

With Faline on his back, Bambi began making his way towards the waterfall, leaping above fire that was blocking the way and avoiding any falling trees

The old buck then said to Bambi, "Your mother would be proud of you. As would be your father. Your father is proud of you Bambi. Know this though: Every generation of yours will know Man."

The old stag's words went through Bambi's head over and over again. It never seemed like Man was ever going to dissapear, he was always going to come back again, taking away more lives and destroying the forest again. What if one day the forest will not recover after a fire? Then what will everyone do? Man was and always be the biggest danger to who ever lived in the forest.

The old stag then smiled and said, "I know the thoughts in your head son but the forest will survive it is just that more lives will be taken." He then got Bambi to swim across the island and they finally made it to the island. The old one then looked at Bambi's children and shaked. "These are your children? Never in my long years have I seen more perfect deer besides you of course Great Prince." He came up to them like an old grandfather proud of his legacy.

Bambi placed Faline on the ground as the old stag spoke. Geno was still confused by everything, he was relieved that his mother made it eventually, but he still had no idea who was this stag. "I'm sorry, sir, who are you?" he asked as politely as he could despite his confusion. No one seemed to know who the stag was.

The old buck smiled and said, "Don't worry my boy I am just a close family friend. That is all you need to know." He then looked at Geno and said, "My goodness you look just like your father. Can you fulfill his duties as a Great Prince? Can you do what needs to be done to watch over the herd like his father before him did?"

Geno never though about the day he would have to replace his father as the prince, and he tried not to think about it, since him replacing his father meant that he either stepped down, which seemed fine, or that either he was killed and he didn't want to loose his father. "Well someone has to do it." Geno said with complete honesty. When the time came, he would do his best to follow in his father's path

The old stag smiled but continued. "Being a Great Prince is not grand. You must know that you must give up your life if need be for the herd. You must be brave enough to die for them all!" He looked at Geno and said, "Your father was so intent on being brave when he was a fawn. He thought he didn't know how to be brave. After all he has done he has been brave. When you become Great Prince you must be brave and be willing to do anything!"
