Pheonix wiped the tear away when he figured most eyes would be on Penelope and swallowed the lump in his throat. Like she didn't do the same exact thing. They all did. Even Ares him. He rolled his massive shoulders, the muscles knotting then examined the halls nervously as Angel closed her eyes an leaned against the wall.
"Well...perhaps it once was a plac of the gods, or he was trying to get rid of Kerebros and you were magically there, or...," her eyes snapped open, revealing the yellow shooting out. She finished quietly, "Or this is your dads place and he's trying to trap is for whatever reasons."
"Don't be ridiculous," Pheonix snapped.
She glared at him. "I'm being logical, I'm sorry if it hurts. He wasn't too worried about his two favorite children going into a massive battle, even when he should've been. Now...let's get out of here. It's obviously not Kerebros's lair, he would've showed up by now." She jumped as a large figure moved towards them down the hall. She pulled the hunting knife Pheoix had given her on the battlefield out of her high heeled combat boots and moved beside Pheonix. "Penelope and I aren't children," she hissed as Pheonix and Jason blocked them off.
"Dad?" She barely recognized Pheonix's voice, the way it cracked. Sure enough, however, Ares was standing in front of them.
"You don't think I would let four kids, two of my own, face Kerebros alone, did you?" He grinned and beckoned for ten to follow, "I've been scouting. He seems to be further in here." The others moved ahead, only Angel lingering, but quickly catching up. She was beside the others as they walked into a fairly large, round chamber, moving ahead of Ares. "In here," he said quietly.
"This is...wow!" Angel laughed, spinning. Her eyes flitted back to Ares and she moved forward as he pressed a button, a huge stone slab sliding over and locking them in by themselves.
"No!" Pheonix bellowed as he rammed his shoulder into the blockage. Then again. And again. He was about to start from further back when Angel grabbed his arm.
"Save your muscle," she warned quietly, before giving him a look which he misinterpretated.
"Don't. Say. It," he said gruffly.
"What?"
"'I told you so'."
