"So glad he's gone." Remarked Xandra, racing up to fall into step behind Tali who had suddenly stopped in her tracks and looked around curiously. Just about as she was going to question why they stopped she also felt the sensation.

''I don't see anything, maybe just a minor earthquake.''

Unfortunately that wasn't the case as a giant wyrm jolted out from the crust of the earth right in front of Xandra and Tali, knocking them both back a couple of feet, "Augh! Dammit!"

Another one shot up and joined them in the fray.

Tali jumped up and pulled a hesitant Xandra back to her feet, yelling at the top of her lungs, "Eon, get out of there!"

''Oh great, looks like chimeras right now are at the bottom of our 'threats to take into concideration' list.'' said Eon as he sliced one of the wyrms in half that attempted to get a hold on him.

The other wyrms were provoked and attacked the three of them.

''Oh great, looks like chimeras right now are at the bottom of our 'threats to take into consideration' list.''

"Don't you mean, more at the top? Considering we're getting attacked right now!" Retorted Tali as she dawned her bow and quiver, shooting arrows at the wyrms and killing one in the process.

'I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die.' Xandra on the other hand had turned back into a wolf and was trying her best to dodge and weave in between on coming attack, much less skilled at fighting these creatures, unlike her followers.

Eon was busy fighting the wyrms, killing them easily with his magic steel. He looked at Xandra and noticed that she was in trouble, leaving him with the choice to either save himself, or endanger his own life even more by helping Xandra out, who was about to become wyrm-food.

''Ah, damn it.'' he muttered, rushing his way to Xandra and killing enough wyrms to offer Xandra the opportunity to save herself.

More wyrms were drawn to the surface and made it even harder for Tali and Eon to fight them, as they were completely overwhelmed.

Tali had backed off a few paces and shot down three more wyrms. But their numbers were seemingly endless as one would be cut down with three more replacing that lost wyrm. She tried helping Xandra as much as she could but she was getting outnumbered and had to concentrate on her own foes rather than fighting hers.

Xandra on the other hand felt as if she was going to die. Her legs were growing tired and her teeth and claws were no match against penetrating the wyrms and their serpentine hides. She would have died if it had not been for Eon slashing the last few right off of her heels, quite literally.

Eon also tried his very best helping defending Xandra against the wyrms.

''You're such a pest,'' he complained.

That moment, the wyrms enclosed around them, leaving them with no way out. But a few of them were struck by something fast and sharp, offering them the opportunity to escape. Eon wasted no chance as he rushed to safety with Tali and Xandra.

''This way, before more of those hideous things show up.'' spoke a new voice.

A young warrior wielding a kind of sword that should be used with two hands had just appeared, and saved them from a monstrous fate of being eaten alive.

Xandra caught the off hand complain in her ears, ''You're such a pest,'' Rolling her eyes, she ignored the comment and tried running to the opposite end of the circle in which they were slowly but surely being pinned. Closer and closer then wyrms writhed and jerked, entwining in an inescapable situation that was going to leave them dead.

Tali looked at her companions in horror, her life flashing before her eyes. Xandra shared the same exchange and looked on in dread as the wyrms came closer.

Abruptly, there was a hole cut into the fray, giving the trio an advantage to escape which none of them hesitated at taking.

''This way, before more of those hideous things show up.'

Following Eon and the new stranger, Xandra and Tali made hasty steps retreating from the area to safety.

The stranger, wearing some sort of empowered gauntlet in place of one of his hands, used it to punch a hole into a rock that led them into a cave.

''Thanks, but who exactly are you?'' asked Eon.

''Who, me? I am Balius, the legendary beast-slayer of the West.''

''I should've known...'' muttered Eon.

''Who, me? I am Balius, the legendary beast-slayer of the West.''

Xandra shifted back into her human form, stomach still in knots and panting profusely, "Thank god we lived. I swear I saw my life flashing before my eyes."

Tali on the other hand looked to each of her companions to make sure they were okay and in decent health. Xandra was tired but still alive and Eon looked like he had nary a scratch on him, but equally winded nontheless,"Thank you Balius, my name's Tali. And I need to ask you one question, how the hell did you get so good and where did you come from?"

''Well, isn't that obvious?'' said Balius. ''As a beast-slayer I travel around the world to fight all sorts of monsters and creatures, either for my own entertainment or a bounty.''

''I have heard about you, but I'd never think about encountering you here.'' said Eon.

''And I know who you are. You are none other than Eon of Osendalf, the so-called legendary head-knight and hero of Daryon, right?'' asked Balius.

''Well, yes...'' replied Eon.
