"Was that meant to hurt my feelings you over sized rabbit?" Ash shot at Elecmon.

"Ash, just.. Stop it! Please. Can't you just learn to get along with us.. We are your friends!" Zogamon said with a sigh.

"I don't need friends" Ash said, waving the dragon away before walking off towards the lake.

"No, don't walk off alone! Damn it.... Ash!" Zogamon said walking off after her.

"I'll be back soon!" he called back to Natsu and Elecmon.

"No, that was just meant to say the truth," said Elecmon to Ash. "You are very, very, veryyy stubborn."

"OK, much more stubborn than would be normal," said he after hearing short discussion of the other pair.

"Poor Zogamon," he thought, and look to Natsu with a smile. For the first time, she returned the smile to him. It seemed like they understood each other completely.

"Don't worry," she told him. "Ash is always like that. She'll get over it. Even a lone wolf can't live all alone."

"Lone wolf?" Elecmon repeated, obviously - confused.

"That's an expression," said Natsu with a giggle. "It means someone's better alone than in company."

"Oh, sorry," said Elecmon and blushed. Luckily, his blushing could hardly be noticed since he's red. But still, he hoped he didn't say something stupid. Is it OK that he didn't know what lone wolf was? And, how come Zogamon found a partner like that? Digimon and their humans are supposed to work together.

"Poor Zogamon," he thought to himself again, and sighed.

Ashelin walked through the forest, pushing the branches away as she went. Zogamon was close on her trail though and when he finally caught up to her, he rushed round and blocked her path so that she was forced to stop.

"Move it" She snapped at the dragon creature.

"No. Ash, you can't go wandering off alone like that, you could get hurt" Zogamon insisted.

"I'll be fine.. I always am" She muttered, looking away from Zogamon who looked at her with concern.

"Why must you be like that? I am only here to help you. You and I are partners and I won't let any harm come to you" Zogamon said sincerely.

"Sure, you say that now! But you'll leave me eventually, everyone does!" Ashelin suddenly found herself shouting.

Her eyes softened then and she fell back a few steps shocked by her words. She hadn't meant to shout, nor reveal that and as Zogamon watched her, he noticed that there were distant tears in her eyes.

"Ash... I won't leave you. I.. I am not a human so I can't really say why people would leave you, but... I won't let anything happen to you and I won't leave you.. I promise. Im you're friend and i'll be here for you forever" He said with a smile.

Ash looked down at the creature, she still looked unsure so she sighed.

"I can't trust anyone.. You must know that before you try and be my friend. I trust no one. I never have and I never will" She said.

"We'll work on that together" Zogamon said stepping forward.

"Now let's get back to the others"

Ash slowly nodded and followed Zogamon back towards Natsu and Elecmon.

Natsu slowly approached Elecmon as she heard him sighing. Her eyes showed that she started to care about him. She didn't want for him to feel bad, and he hoped her words didn't hurt him, since she didn't want them to.

"You OK?" she asked.

"I'm fine, sorry..." he responded. "I'm happy to be here with you, I've been waiting for ever and ever for you!"

"You, you, you have?" She was very surprised by those words. Why would this thing wait for her? Was she special in any way? Was she called to this world on purpose? All those questions ran through her head, all together.

"Sure. I don't know much about that who you are, or why you are here," said he, almost like he could read her thoughts. "I only know that I was programmed to find you. And I have, and I'm very happy for that."

"Elecmon..." Natsu's eyes were in tears.

Right then, they noticed Zogamon and Ash approaching.

"Oh, have you two come to peace?" asked Elecmon, in sarcastic tone.

Ash cracked her knuckles as Elecmon spoke, but Zoga gave her a soft look and she relaxed almost instantly. She then lowered her hands and smirked over at the red digimon.

"You better drop the tone if you wanna eat tonight Elecmon" Ashelin said, folding her arms now.

Zogamon tilted his head to the side as she mentioned this. What was Ash getting at? Was she going to get them food? Seeing the confused look on Zogamon's face, Ash sighed having to explain herself.

"Zogamon, get me some sticks and some bark. I am going to make some fishing rods. I was a woodlands cadet so know basic survival skills, one of which included how to catch fish" She finished.

"I have no idea what that means, but sure! I'll get some bark and wood!" Zogamon said, bounding off.

"Hey, Ash!" Natsu protested, "of course he'll be able to eat!"

This time, she stood in front of Elecmon, so she could protect him.

"Just because he mentions some things about you, that are, by the way, true, doesn't mean you have the right to punish him!"

She was surprised by the bravery she displayed towards Ash, but if someone insults this little guy... she'll show her.

Elecmon looked at her gratefully. This girl... this girl truly is something.

"Fishing rods? Mind if I help?" he asked Ash, not expecting an answer.

Ashelin let their words go right over her head. Partly to annoy them and partly because she couldn't be bothered with a petty argument at present. Zogamon returned shorly after carrying an assortment of branches in his mouth. He placed them down infront of Ash like an obedient puppy before smiling and waiting for her to do something.

"I've not done this in a while... So bare with me" She said starting to pull strings of bark off the branches and tie them around the thicker bits of wood.

At Natsu's words, Ashelin shrugged like she usually did.

"If you want.... just do what I am doing" Ash said as she tied the knot tight.

"How on earth are they going to catch fish like that?" Zogamon asked Elecmon.

Natsu smiled, so Ash had come to her senses, at last.

"Just give me some of the branches," she said. "You are not so bad, Ash. You know... when you calm down a bit." Natsu said it partly to calm Ash down, and partly to provoke her. She didn't know her well, so she couldn't really suspect her reaction at that point. Never mind. The first one would be nice, and the second would be fun. She giggled at that thought.

Elecmon giggled at Zogamon's question. He was actually wondering the same thing.

"Maybe they want to beat them up 'till they die?" He looked at Natsu, as if he came to a genius idea.

"That's right, isn't it?" he added. "If it is, I'll have to remind you that fish live underwater, and are not so easy to beat from the surface." His face still had the same 'I-am-a-genius' look.

Ash rolled her eyes and at Natsu's words she tied the knot with brute force to show her annoyance. When she felt her fishing rod was secure she stood up and looked down at Zogamon.

"Ok, so where is this lake then?"

"Just around the corner. I'll lead the way. Elecmon, you bring Natsu once she's finished with her fishing stick" Zogamon instructed his friend before bounding off around the corner with Ashelin on his heels.

"So what sort of fish are in this lake?" Ash called.

"Fish with.. fins and tails...."

"Forget I asked" Ashelin sighed.

Elecmon nodded at his friend.

"Alright," he said and turned to Natsu.

"We'll join them as soon as you finish that thing for beating fish," he said in rather insecure manner. "OK? I know very well where the lake is, this the island, so it's not very big and..."

"OK," replied Natsu. "An island?" she asked all of a sudden. "So, in a way, we are trapped."

"I lived my whole short life here, and didn't feel that way," Elecmon protested. "This island is a nice place to live."

Natsu laughed. This Digimon can really miss the point. But she couldn't deny it herself, this did seem like a nice place to live. But for how long, she wondered.

"Come, I'll lead you to the lake," he said when noticing that Natsu is about to finish her last stick. "It's very near."

"Thanks," she stood up, and followed her lead.

Once they ended up on the lake, she was startled by its beauty.

"I've never seen an ocean like this in Japan!" she screamed.

"Japan?" Elecmon repeated.

"Oh, forget it," Natsu said. Sure... she forgot Elecmon knew nothing about Japan, how silly of her to mention it.
