"Run away?" Elisa asked, kneeling down to be at her cousin's height. "Why would he do that?" She started wiping away Twyla's tears.

"I think.... I think he wants to leave us.... Even though...." Twyla said.

"Even though what?" Elisa asked.

"Even though Mom's going to have the baby...." Twyla said, crying a little.

"Oh, Twyla," Elisa said, hugging her cousin close. "I'm really sorry to hear that."

Twyla cried, hugging Elisa back.

"Hey, it will be okay," Elisa said. "True, it will be upsetting seeing your brother leave, but you'll still have me, Adrian, Marianne, and little Christian when he's born. Not to mention my parents and your parents."

"I know.... I don't want him to leave!" Twyla said, crying more.

"I don't want him to, either, but maybe him leaving will help him in the future," Elisa said.
