[Private] Balto II: Redemption

Kalu slowly woke up groaning in pain when he moved looking around he could hear dogs barking and howling, he was in a cage on a cold concrete floor "Uh oh this isn't where my kind should be." Kalu was in a pound his wounds had been treated but they still hurt. He knew that this place would do something to him he'd seen wolves go in and never come out he would have to get free soon or end up like the other wolves that got caught.

Steele paced back and forth before heading to the human animal doctor after getting a mild painkiller and getting patched up Steele quickly took off running. Following Kalu's scent until he reached the pound strolling inside the other dogs getting quiet as he approached Kalu's cage. "Well well well you are quite lucky wolfy if it wasn't for this lock I'd be inside tearing you to shreds." Steele laughed hearing Kalu growl, "Oh and as for the others they're going to get theirs shortly and there's nothing you can do to stop me." Steele smiled walking away hearing Kalu screaming his name.

Balto was alone with Jenna for a moment. "Jenna, what do you think about my mother saying that Steele would change? Is it even possible for that to happen?" he said.

Jenna sighed looking out one of the windows her tail swaying back and forth "I don't know Balto I've been around Steele alot more than you have and in my opinion I don't see him changing anytime soon." her tail stopping and curling up a bit.

Steele walked down the street making sure that no one would see him making his way to Jenna's home to finish what he had started peering into the house through the back doggie door he slipped in without anyone seeing him and finding Balto and Jenna sitting at one of the windows moving closer.

Kalu paced back and forth he knew he had to stop Steele, he started barking and growling causing the human to come in with a muzzle and Kalu waited until the lock clicked open and the human lifted the latch. He jumped at the gate knocking the human down as Kalu ran out the door heading towards Balto and Jenna's home his wounds causing him great pain but he wasn't about to stop unaware that Steele had just made it inside the house.

It was in that moment that Aniu, remaining unseen, granted Balto an awareness of the enemy. Balto turned to see Steele. "Go away, Steele. You don't belong here. Don't make me call the master," he said.

Steele growled unaware how Balto knew that he was there inside the house ready to pounce regardless when Kalu came running through the door still bandaged "Stand down Steele you can't win this even in my injured state I will die before I let you hurt Balto or Jenna especially when she is expecting!" Kalu snarled. A look of shock came across Steele's face hearing that news as he stared at Jenna.

Jenna took a step forward "It's true Steele me and Balto are going to start a family together so please don't do this." she pleaded watching as Steele ran out the way he came and into town. "Thank goodness nothing bad happened this time." she looked at Balto smiling and nuzzling against him.

Balto was stunned. "Kalu, how did you get here so fast in your state, without being noticed?" he asked.

Kalu looked around at both of them "I . . . Uh I don't know I just didn't want him to hurt you guys and my pain wasn't a bother anymore at least until now." Kalu grit his teeth fighting the urge to collapse sitting down "So what do you plan to do now?"

Balto sighed. "Right now, we plan to lay low. I must keep Jenna safe while our pups are developing. I will not lose Jenna or the pups like I lost my mother," he said.

Kalu nodded standing up and heading towards the door smiling back at them "Well I'll be around until I recover then I'm gonna head out for a while to train to get stronger. I'll be back once I feel ready so be safe you two I'll keep an eye on Steele while I'm still in town." Kalu walked out of the house and down the street.

Balto started to panic inside. "Oh Jenna, what are we going to do now? What if Steele comes back in our sleep. I couldn't live if you died," he said.
