Melony smiled at the warmth she was receiving from Jempa's fur. "Don't worry about it now Hammy, we're not back to Nome yet."

Jempa laughed. "Maybe Steele will brag about himself too much and his gang will get tired of it and abandon him," he said.

Melony giggled, "You're so funny." she said, resting her head on his shoulder.

Hammy found himself laughing before getting serious once more. "When I get back, the first thing I want to do is see my parents and grandparents again," he said. Jempa smiled. "There are no greater dogs in Nome than Balto and Jenna," he said.

Melony closed her eyes as her head rested on Jempa's shoulder. "Definitely. I'm sure they'll be proud of you."

Hammy smiled excitedly. "Do you know what this means, guys? It means we helped to save lives, just like my grandpa did," he said proudly.

Melony smiled, her eyes still closed. "Exactly. He'll be proud of you."

For quite some time, the mushers distributed the supplies to the people of Tolketna. Once that was over, everyone started getting ready for the journey back to Nome. Hammy looked at his friends as the musher got onto the sled. "All right, my friends, back to Nome," he said.

Melony was kind of dissapointed that she had to leave her comfortable spot next to her boyfriend. But it wasn't all that bad, once they got back to Nome they'll have all the time they want.

The mushers were in position and the dogs were ready. It was then time. The cry of "mush!" rang out and the dogs began running. Hammy, full of pride at his accomplishment, never broke his stride as he ran, leading the team towards the first of the checkpoints.
