"He was really upset when he heard you guys were going to the valley," Adan said. "It was hard even talking to him, because he kept worrying about whether his cousin was okay."

Anna sighed, then she said, "I was worried too, Adan. I'm his mother and... I should have paid more attention...."

Adan put his hand on her shoulder. "Don't blame yourself. You just thought they were swordfighting. You didn't know Adrian was going to use his powers or anything," he said.

Adrian immediately sat up when he heard his cousin's voice. "Hey," he greeted. "Are you okay? Grandpabbie was able to help you, right?"
